Has anyone personally tested simultaneous game sharing with the new disc-to-digital feature?

This has to do with DRM or digital rights management. If you have the disc this is your proof of ownership. With the disc in their possession anyone can play the game it shows ownership. But only the one person with the disc can play at one time. With
digital media it is different, the account that purchased the digital media is the owner. In some circumstances (Home Xbox) it can be shared but it can never be transferred to another account. Make sure the disc is a valid working disc for the Xbox one.

You can set one of the Xbox consoles as "home" you will then be able to share content and accounts on both. You can only use one physical disc at a time but digital games can be shared simultaneously.

Why? If they made the family sharing all digital, no discs at all, and required all parties to be online to access sharing features, why wouldn't they be able to do it? There is no difference now between a digital copy of the game under this plan and a digital
copy of the game under the old one. None. And any DRM necessary for it could be met by imposing an online requirement specifically for that feature.

Either they could never do what everyone was led to believe, or they are removing it as a strike back at their consumer base, or they couldn't do it yet and they might in the future.

Not sure if game pass can be shared but if you have xbox live gold you would only need one subscription on the xbox you designate as "Home" disc is easy to share so long as the disc is in the xbox that will be playing the game any user can play the game
freely because it is a disc. Downloaded is different and can be done the profile of the person who downloaded the digital game has to be on the same xbox with the person trying to play the digital game which is game sharing.

@Accyjr.. What exactly was lost?

If you want to be connected all the time, just dont unplug it or go anywhwere internet is not available... If you dont like swapping discs, buy the digital copies... If you want to share a game with 10 freinds, just hand them the disc, you would not
have been able to all play simultaneously before anyway... If you only buy new games and dont care about used ones, then dont sell them... Digital copies of new releases are 60$ just like in store...
