Xbox Series s for digital licence

The xbox series s is a digital only console. To play a game on the series s it would require the game disc to start the game. The game licence is on the disc.

You would need to purchase the digital version of the game to be able to play on the Series S. As a disc based version has to be in the console for the licence to be read.

nope, this has always been this way, the disc is the licence, the disc has to be present for licence auth, if no disc then you need to own the digital licence therefore purchase a digital copy, it has been well known that the consoles with NO disc drives require digital games only, this was the same with Xbox one digital and Xbox series s, if you want to run a disc then you need the series x.

This is the same on all platforms too.

You could try selling the disc copy privately to make the money towards buying the digital version.

Eventually discs will be discontinued on future consoles and then only digital will be available.

I play PC I own a lot of disc games from decades ago, but I have repurchased all digital as PC is 99% digital only now.

the disc is required for the licence, there is no way to convert them, if you have a large disc collection then the series x is what you require, the series s is designed for entry level and those that use digital only.

you should have researched before buying, if you require to use your discs then you need the series x, the series s console is digital only, you need to have the disc in the machine to confirm the licence when playing. there is no legal route for you to take.
