  1. Expanding Developer Mode Capabilities: RAM Allocation & Input Support (UWP)

Hi everyone, As a developer/homebrew user on Xbox Dev Mode, I really appreciate the platform Microsoft provides. However, the current restrictions on UWP app profiles are significantly limiting what we can test and build, especially compared to the "Game" profile. I would love to see Microsoft grant more freedom in the following areas: Higher RAM Allocation for Apps: The strict RAM capping on standard UWP apps forces frequent out-of-memory crashes on resource-heavy tools. Giving us the option to manually allocate more memory (closer to the Game profile limits) would be a game-changer. Improved Mouse/Input Passthrough: UWP's CoreWindow restrictions often lock out or drop pointer/mouse input entirely in emulation environments, even when hardware is connected. We need cleaner, unrestricted API hooks for raw mouse input. Better Background Priority: Allowing background tasks to utilize more CPU threads without aggressive system throttling would greatly help with network and rendering optimizations. Unlocking these limits wouldn't hurt retail safety, but it would give the Dev Mode community the freedom it truly needs to innovate. Thoughts?

Would it be possible to install drivers made for Windows 10/11 on the Xbox One's OS? It's based on Windows 10 so it should work.

    Hi,

Developer mode was created to let users with development skills make games and apps for the Xbox platform using the Universal Windows Platform structure. Indeed, the payment to unlock developer mode is there to register you as a developer, regardless of whether you intend to develop for the platform or not.

Despite supporting UWP, developer mode is still locked down and can not be used to 'hack' the system and make it run software that it is not designed to run. It's a developer tool, not a hacking tool.

There are limitations on hardware resources in DEV mode regarding RAM allocation and CPU/GPU features. So, you can forget about running Windows or fully fledged PC games on your Xbox in developer mode. And it won't be possible to make third party USB devices work on your console either.
