    The newest XBOX app update from May 21st doesn't support external controllers on hanhelds...


    The windows/xbox native games running under XBOX app do not support external controllers anymore. I am using GameSir Nova connected via usb dongle in XInput mode. Before the update everything was fine, I used to disable the built-in controller on my MSI Claw A1M and the app used external controller instead as primary. Now it's inconsistent. The controller works in the app menus but in the games only the button glyphs change but pressing them gives no reaction, same with directional controls.
    I need that setup working when my handheld is docked to eGPU.
    Games from other stores (steam, epic, gog etc) do work just fine.

    The Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows 10 has the newest driver (there's no firmware update in Xbox Accessories app) and the Xbox Series controller has the newest firmware (updated via Xbox Accessories app). Didn't help.

    StalkingDAVE, did you get the newest update 1408? That has the new 3D support in it. Also once you have the update, you will have to update the bluray app as well. Just put a regular dvd, bluray or 3d bluray in to have the app update if the xbox doesn't
    do it on its own.

    Xbox Accessories app is asking me to get May 2019 update for Elite Controller 2

    Just update and then maybe youll get a newer update if not then may 2019 in the newest elite controller update.

    Consider updating your controller's firmware by downloading and launching the Xbox Accessories app from the Microsoft Store.

    You can also try using a different controller to check if the issue continues. If the problem doesn't occur with the alternative, the controller may be faulty.

    Xbox One controller firmware update, on PC

    Update: With the Nov 10, 2015 release of the newest version of Windows 10, it seems to have included a refresh on the Xbox Accessories app. With the device plugged in via USB, it was about to push an update to the controller.
