Verify that your TV is capable of HDR by going to the Xbox One X display settings and open "4K TV details".

In the Xbox One X display settings, ensure you have "color depth" set to at least "30 bits per pixel (10-bit)" to enable HDR.

Okay, I'm sure you can follow the great troubleshooting steps other have posted, but just another thought that is easy to check:

• Is your Xbox One X (not the TV) set to 4K HDR output resolution?
• Instructions can be found
  here

Even if you verify that the Xbox's resolution is indeed set to 4K HDR, you could always try:

1. Disabling Game DVR
2. Setting the resolution to 1080p
3. Restart the Xbox
4. Set the resolution to 4k HDR
5. Re-enable the Game DVR
6. See if that fixes it 🙂

As a side note, one time my Xbox One X would only let me record in 720p and it turns out the Xbox had switched resolutions on me without my knowledge. Once I set my Xbox output options back to 1080p it was good to go.

The Xbox One S won't actually play games in 4k

But it will play 4k movies in 4k

But will play games in HDR if your TV has this option enabled

Have you done the calibration settings by any chance via your console?

Home Button > Settings > General > TV & display options

In here try 4K TV details see what is ticked and what is not

Then Run through Calibrate TV

Thanks for coming to the forums with your question. On the Xbox one original, you will not see any of the HD. As the description states will need an Xbox one X to install.

The star notates that it can be enjoyed on other displays, meaning that the display(TV) is not a 4K TV.

I am having the exact same problem with my C61K-700. In the advanced video input settings and "4K Details" my Xbox One X states that my TV supports 4K content (all the parameters pass as indicated with green checks). I bypassed the Xbox One X and connected
my C61K-700 directly to my 4K TV and it does show up the 4K content. When connected to the XBox One X even though it passes all the checks in identifying my TV as being a compatible 4K TV, when going the the video input and resolutions setting within my C61K-700,
the 4K option is grayed out and states your TV doesn't support 4K content. When bypassing the XBox One X, the 4K resolution isn't grayed out and I'm able to successfully check the 4K resolution and DirecTV channel 104 does display content in 4K and doesn't
downgrade my resolution to 1080p as it does when connected to the XBox One X. I have yet to get a solution from XBox Support in resolving this issue.
