YouTube update, now lower quality video

My Xbox automatically proceeded to install Youtube today, even though I already had it. The reason was because they did an update and changed Youtube.

The look is different, the controls are worse, there is no longer any indication if a video is HD, and when you launch a video there is no indication what quality it is being played back in. I think it's defaulting in 720p or compressing the video, instead
of playing in 1080. I could be wrong, but video quality looks lower, like a compressed jpeg.

Are you asking how to change settings to use less data? With youtube you can lower the quality of the video. This can virtually be done from any YouTube app. On your xbox when watching a video you can change resolution from the more option and choose a
lower quality. Should be similar from any other youtube app on other devices. The more option on you xbox app will be the three ellipses.

hey, I also still have this problem as I stated in the other threads I made. I event went as far as turning the video quality down below 1080p but all video quality settings were using the vp9 codec. It originally only did it on 4k videos because thats
the only video quality at that time that used vp9 and now more lower quality videos are using vp9. Also same as you, no go with contacting youtube, and don't worry its not your internet thats causing the issue I have 940mbps of download speed and what ya know
it still does it.

I had 2 updates, then one for youtube on launch, and I can say the video quality is not the same.

same comedy video I watched many times, always on my main page quick list, now is on the blurry side.

It's sad that that we can't get any help from either Xbox or YouTube on it . I've also had it flake out on 1440p and 1080p . Some sites have no issues , but sadly most of the ones I use do it . At least I know I don't have to send it in . I guess I'll just
have to use the tv's built in YT app . Too bad the HDR support went away on it to ...
