YouTube content strikes from in game music

Hey guys,

So I started playing Horizon 2 and I’m loving every minute of it that I started using Upload Studio to capture some of my drives to show friends and then uploading it through the YouTube application on the Xbox but noticed today that I’m getting copyright strikes
because of the in game music.

Is anyone familiar with dealing with this sort of thing?

If anyone is a Youtuber be cautious. Youtube is on to it, with this game in particular, with copyright ID notes (not talking about the strikes). Have had no issues with COD Halo Minecraft. Had to do some editing using the YT music edit out tool. Think from
now on when I do recordings for this game - I'll turn off the music sound if there is an option for it in the game even though it might sound bland. Lots of peps do YT videos on Xbox don't see Microsoft looking over our shoulder. It's probably just a 'hey
well found matching content' in-game music. Have a Hauppauge HD PVR2.

Otherwise, I love the game. Xbox 1 should have the XBL Feature where like on 360 you can play your own music.

 

Monetization of Halo Campaign on Youtube

Hey internet,

I've been uploading some videos of myself playing the Halo campaign to youtube. Whenever I upload a video, it gets flagged for having third party music (the in game music itself is flagged) and disabled for monetization. As content like mine is explicitly
allowed under Microsoft's Game Content Usage Rules, how do I go about having youtube enable my videos for monetization?

 

I believe you can just write a disclaimer in your video description. Something like "I do not own any of the music in this video, no copyright infringement intended" Not sure, but I have seen stuff like that before.

 

Yeah I started having that happen as well. Really hated when it happened on Twitch to boot. What I do is use Youtube's audio removal tool. (or something like that it's called) Sometimes it works, sometimes it fails, but when it works...it's a thing of beauty.
You can swap out the audio for copyright free music from their vast library as well. But in the case of my videos I'm still trying to understand how to completely use those correctly for my videos. Often times I end up with 2 minutes of music and then dead
silence for the rest of the video.

There really should be some sort of agreement between artists making music etc. for games and youtube. As a graphic designer I understand the need to get paid...but maybe if the account is never monetized and is just being used to display gameplay without
gaining profit that isn't rightfully yours...perhaps the content owner could still profit from every click-through and at the same time allow the gamer to display the content without strikes.

It just seems silly on one hand for developers and console makers to provide the tools and freedoms to "broadcast" and "stream" and then cry foul when gamers actually do just that. Free advertising is just that...there has to be a happy medium I think.
