YouTube audio crackcling with 4K/HDR video + Xbox Wireless Headsets (Xbox Series X)

    Hello,

I would like to report an issue I'm having with my Xbox Series X from November 10, 2020 till today.

When using Xbox Wireless Headsets (like LucidSound LS35X), every time I watch an high bitrate video with the YouTube app (mainly 4K and/or 4K+HDR video), the audio in the headset starts to frequently distort with crackling, fast-cutting and other issues.

This only happens in this specific circumstance, as when playing 4K/HDR games or watching 4K/HDR (or Dolby Vision) movies with Netflix app and/or Movies & TV app and/or Plex app, there's no audio crackling or disconnection at all in the headset.

Is this related to a Dashboard OS issue with YouTube app or an issue withing YouTube app itself?

Hope it get fixed in future updates.

    Thank you,

    -P

Will xbox one support 1080p HDR like PS4 does?

Of course Xbox One X supports 4K and HDR for both compatible video content and games, but Xbox One S should support 4K video content and HDR color palettes for games. The original first-gen Xbox One unfortunately will not support either.

So you are saying it does indeed do 1080p games with hdr?

    HDMI Xbox Series S/X

    Hi,

There is more than enough bandwidth for 1440P @120Hz with HDR on an HDMI 2.0 Monitor. On the current consoles Microsoft decided to lock HDR to 4K displays, but with the Series S that won't be an issue anymore.

HDMI standards are backwards compatible, so you won't need an HDMI 2.1 compliant Monitor to use Series X or S on an older monitor or TV that only has HDMI 2.0.

Xbox One X and S can be very fussy when it comes to full monitor support. But if you bought a monitor that fully supports the Xbox One X then it should support the same features on a Series X/S.

My advice would be to check reviews of monitors actually running on the current consoles with 120Hz support. There are loads of videos on YouTube. Just looking at the specs on a website may not be enough.

    Captures on external harddrive

I use a capture card because of this and another problem I encountered is that if you capture 4k HDR videos on external when you upload them to Youtube only the 4k aspect of it uploads but not the HDR and the video ends up looking weird

Yeah, it's apparently difficult to capture HDR for YouTube. I also get a warning when streaming my gameplay to YouTube that HDR will not be streamed and so it may look different. And that goes for both major consoles even, so it's not limited to just the
    Xbox infrastructure.

I'm not a technical person (to that level), so I'm not sure of the underlying issue that causes that; whether it's something on YouTube's end, or something specific to HDR as a technical component of media.
