YouTube App not working with XBO wireless remote control

Hi there PolluX! The Xbox One Media Remote is designed to work with most apps. However, some 3rd party apps are not fully compatible. I recommend you reach out to the app's creator/provider and let them know you'd like to see that implemented into the app's
design.

It's not just a lack of support for the Xbox One Media Remote. I have a Logitech Harmony Remote that works with the Xbox One and it also doesn't work with the YouTube App. The only device that seems to work with the YouTube app is the controller. It's a
shame since the Xbox One Media Remote works really well in other apps like Twitch,Crackle and Machinama.

I have the same problem, but in my case, it is the Logitech Harmony remote that cannot control either the Netflix or YouTube apps. Apparently, it is IR based remotes that don't work. Here is what I have found out:

1. In may case, the problem applies to a Logitech Harmony Smart Control remote, but from forums, I have seen similar reports regarding other IR based remotes.

2. So far, I have observed the problem on the YouTube and Netflix apps.

3. Play, pause and directional buttons do not work.

4. The Home button works so I can get to the Home screen from these apps using the remote.

5. If I turn on the Xbox One controller, the remote appears to work as expected, but when the controller automatically turns itself off, the remote stops working.

6. I have uninstalled both apps, restarted the Xbox and reinstalled the apps. The problem remains.

I have the same exact issue. I just figured it was Youtube locked up. After reading your post I ran Youtube again and used the game controller rather than my Harmony Remote and it worked. I uninstalled and reinstalled that app at least 10 times. I never
dreamed it could be related to the app not responding to the Remote! At least I can use Youtube now. I do not believe the app responds to Smartglass either.

The remote works fine with all other apps on Xbox One. It navigates all other Xbox Functionality without any issues. Microsoft's own Smartglass will not control YouTube either.
