Youtube 4K update - NO HDR support

so, does it use codec TVs codec or console's codec ?

But in spite of the difference of the codec version, can you see 4k videos in youtube in your Xbox one S?

So Google releases 4K streaming support on the Xbox One S/X finally but 4K vids are all (including HDR vids) using the .vp9 codec. HDR is vp9.2

I verified this on my Samsung KS8000's built-in youtube app. SMH Google is playing games.

I used Naveen's video "2560x1440 vp9 HDR 30fps" Video ID = UuqJFwk37QY to test this at the lower 30fps frame rate and the same applies, just before it pans away from the tower the two beige coloured tower blocks at its base can be used as a reference for

When played using the Samsung YouTube player they glow bright gold in the sunlight using vp9.2 codec (336) with the color line appearing in youtube stats for nerds as bt2020 with the viewport = 1920x1080*2 and horizon window bars across the full screen width.

On the Xbox One S the glow remains a beige colour using vp9 codec (271), the color bar doesn't appear for color palette information, the test also shows the Xbox one S viewport = 3840x2160 with horizon bars only across half the width of the screen.

I used a NU7100 model samsung

So next I am thinking that the HDMI port of the Samsung TV might be limited, so I used a mi Box 3 to repeat the test with the same Samsung HDMI port

I've started having this issue on my Xbox one x , non Scorpio edition . Watching GN will do it and also Tech Yes City (but his is 30p @4k) . Watching the same videos on my S (the 30p ones play in 4k) , I will not get this issue . I'll watch to see
what the VP9 is it to see if it's the same . YouTube updated it's app on my Hisense 4k HDR10 tv & either they removed the HDR support or Hisense did . I no longer have HDR on it , yet the signal shows VP9.2 (which should be HDR) . All my issues seemed to occur
at the same time , which makes me think it's YouTube messing around .

It's definitely has to do with the updates to YouTube app. Google is migrating away from HEVC and adopting VP9 due to licensing issues and VP9 is open source. I think Google needs to update the YouTube apps on different devices to support VP9 in better manner.
Also, as I mentioned before, Google is deliberately throttling bitrate of YouTube videos on some devices, but we don't know what devices they are.
