You played Forza Horizon 2?, now that game is pretty *** stunning if you ask me. Not a massive racing fan but the level of detail in Forza games is awesome...

 

Amazing, the claim that by simply down-grading graphics a Next Gen Game can be Last Gen but then the same claim is made graphics don't make a Next Gen Game. The two statements directly oppose each other.

It is not graphics alone that determine what is possible or what Gen a Game would be capable of having that Game. It is the scope of the over-all Game, the attention to detail, the possibilities within the Game itself. Some Games
would be simply impossible on prior Generations, those are Games that bench-mark a Generation. So far we have seen not one Game to set a bench-mark of Next Gen only.

No one has said that a variaty of Games is bad either. All most people are asking for is one, just one true Next Gen Game. Is that so much to ask for? If that is being a "next gen elitest", then why did anyone, Industry, Consumers
or Gamers even ask for the prior Gen to end. Developers/ Publishers have been crying for years the prior Gen was holding back the Industry. They got a new Gen and so far nothing from them and worse Gamers supporting the hypocrisy.

I look forward to the next Game the Industry spits out and people eat it up.

I'd be interested to know what people would class as a true Next Gen Game though?

I personally loved Ryse Son of Romes story, I loved the co-op but graphically ( and don't forget it was a day one release ) I think it's one of the best looking games we have seen so far. I don't the 360 would have been capable of producing those visuals.
Granted I don't think it was a massive leap ( graphically ) than anything we saw on the 360 but why wouldn't some class this as a True Next Gen game?

Forza 5, again graphically not a huge step up from Forza 4 but some have said the ( I don't know myself ) Drivatar system couldn't have been done on the 360 so could it be classed as a True Next Gen game?

Dead Rising 3, the amount of zombies on screen sometimes is crazy, could that have been achieved on the 360? so possibly another True Next Gen game?

Like people always say, look at the very first 360 games to how different they looked 3 years down the line, it takes time but obviously everyone's idea of a true next gen game will be different.

So why I love games like Ryse, it had fantastic visuals, great campaign ( if very short ) brilliant co-op modes but I've enjoyed games like Peggle 2 just as much, it was addictive, great with friends but hardly the best looking game around.

And no, Drivatars do not classify FM5. Take out Drivatars from FM5 and you have a Game called FM5.

The Zombie count in DR3 is nothing special either. There has always been tons in all DR Games.

What people's expectations of a 'True Next Gen' game are? or what they expect, what they would like to see?

For me it's like I said, I can have just as much fun on something like Peggle 2 as I can on something like Ryse Son of Rome so in one way why are they not both proper next gen games?

Again and it's only my opinion, we've had some stunning games already, graphically, gameplay wise and games will only get better as times goes on. Maybe my expectations are lower than others, I'm not having a go as we are all different.

 

Funny,you takes off graphics,drivatars and more when it can serves your "poor" aguments on what is suppose to be a "true next gen".

Last time i saw something that change the videogame world,that was a tech demo of a fighting game in early-mid 90's,in full 3D.(Which becames Vitua Fighter).

3D changed a lots of things....I don't know what you're expecting for this gen,but it won't be as big as it was back then.....

Especially with people claiming that Kinect,Drivitars,cloud computing are pointless gimmick.

 

^ I still believe games will get better as times goes on but I agree I don't think it will be as big as some are hoping.

I've read quite a few developers, especially over the last 6 months say these new gen consoles are not a massive leap ahead from the previous generation so I do believe there's going to be quite a few disappointed gamers out there in the future, a few right
now no doubt.

 

Okay, I would like to say thanks to LostKauz for opening my eyes and absolutely derailing my thread, which was meant to introduce gamers to a new game called Shiftlings and to discuss it. It's not often that I get angry on these forums, but LK, my friend,
you've succeeded here. Not once have I heard you mention the game by name that this topic is actually about - however, you were able to mention Forza Motorsport 5, The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, Battlefield 4, Ryse: Son of Rome, Call of Duty, and so on...
NONE of which have ANYTHING to do with this thread.

It's one thing to say why you don't think you'd like the game, but it's an entirely different thing to focus entirely/primarily on why you don't like it, and then make the entire topic solely about that, all in an attempt to convince others to also not like
the game for the same reasons as yours when you haven't even played it yet!

I'd like to remind you that the developers behind the Xbox One said they were no longer going to differentiate between the type of games that were going to appear on their console - "games, games, games..." I believe was their mantra. It's obviously not
yours, because you think there have been no next-gen games on this console yet, which is something I find laughable. While there are many games that could be cross-platform (and that are), there are plenty of games that couldn't possibly work on previous consoles,
and then there are those games that could potentially work on ANY console. Why does the latter bother you so much? It's entirely optional which games you decide to get and adds more variety in games for everyone - remember, they're not just marketing to you.
You act like the market is saturated with lower-quality games when the truth is anything but. There are all kinds of games that have released: AAA, Indie, simple, complicated, 8-bit, graphical-powerhouses, time-wasters, and games that take no time at all.

LK, IMPO, you are narrow-sighted and stubborn to the point of starting an argument that again, has nothing to do with the topic itself (which is about the game, Shiftlings), and are trying to do something that is virtually impossible, which is to convince
others that your OPINION is correct. It's not... Because it's an OPINION - it's neither right or wrong; it's simply how you view things.

Now, LK, out of respect for me, I would like for your next post to not be about your argument about what should or or shouldn't be considered next-gen, but rather to be about the game itself. Otherwise, I will report that post too, and ask that this thread
be shut down, because only a select few are talking about the game itself (and for those of you who are, thank you). As others have stated, this is the 3rd thread you've done this in and derailed, and to what end? To cause disruption and un-winnable arguments
in the forums? Because I guarantee you, that's all you're accomplishing with these posts.

I looked up to you once, LK... But now I realize that everyone else was right about you... Even in 1 on 1 conversations on Live with me, you were incessantly complaining - and I find that incredibly disappointing. Then again, I realize that's just who you

What can get /expect ?

Let's be realistic,these past /current gen are more about details (visuals,gameplay,AI,online features).

It's not a complaint but more the state of videogames,today.I'm fine with that.

Maybe the next big step,will be with nanomachines and "game implants" (Excitenz,Avalon,...) "Total recall style" "Is this a game ? or my life?"

 

Lofy, I already stated what is a " true next gen". I knew when I intentionally used the word "true" attached to the phrase "next gen" someone would just latch on to that like a pitbull. That is why I clarified it in the same Post.

So again, it is a bench-mark in over-all, detail or performace. It is simply something that would not be possible at all (note different then in-part) in a prior Gen.

And yet the Devs are already crying in this Next Gen about diminishing returns.

 

As always, it's much appreciated if you could take your personal gripes directed toward one another to PM's. Let's get back to Shiftlings. Thanks muchly.

Scratch was kind enough to ask me in a PM if I, myself, was going to get the game. To be honest, I'm not entirely sure, myself. While it looks like a great game, it appears to be largely focused on the concept of co-op play, which doesn't mesh well with
me simply because I don't really have anyone really willing to play co-op with me (at least locally on the couch). My brother would rather discuss tabletop roleplaying (Dungeons and Dragons and the like), despite it being his console (that I happen to use
more than him as a result) and although I love my dear old mother to death, she's so old-fashioned that she won't even touch a video game. This means my options are limited and as such doesn't really make this game worth purchasing IMO. Now, it also wouldn't
surprise me if you could play this game solo, but I don't like the idea of having this AI-based companion potentially do something stupid and screw things up for me.

Still, like with most other games, if it becomes much cheaper or free through the GWG promotion, I will definitely give it more consideration.
