    Your update broke my xbox and I refuse to pay for your mistake.


    Whenever I turn my xbox on I get a green screen that transitions into a black screen. The message" For some reason Home took too long to start" is then displayed. I have tried everything that customer support told me to do, to no avail. Customer support
    then told me to send my xbox in,which is ludicrous. Why should I pay for something that was broken by the new update system which I had no control over.

    believe me....you'll KNOW when the update happens to your xbox. it'll either work or it will not...disastrously so. you will be asked to download an update to your xbox or get signed out of live if you refuse. if you download it, pay attention. if your xbox
    turns itself off and shows a red light at any point during the download, you're screwed. no fix will save it. its broke. i was able to turn it back on but it is permanently broke on the dvd player now. i have to send it in for repairs. sigh. gonna lose a whole
    month of live fer this. crap

    I hope mine breaks i would love to get a slim , But i have the Beta update and its working fine so i dont think mine will have an issue

    Unfortunately there isn't much we can do here that probably hasn't already been suggested by customer support. The only real option is to follow their advice Your update broke my xbox and I refuse to pay for your mistake. :(

    I've had a very similar experience to yours. The only thing that's worked for me so far is power cycling the system when I want to play a game and that only works sometimes. I've tried all the other options to try to fix the issue to no avail. I'm holding
    out hope a new build will come out soon that fixes these issues, but I'm not overly optimistic.

    I had a similar issue after an update and had to send it back. Microsoft paid for the shipping and sent it back once it was completed. I've had no issues since then. Sending it back is probably your best bet, unless here happens to be a Microsoft store
    in your area.

    I had a similar issue after an update and had to send it back. Microsoft paid for the shipping and sent it back once it was completed. I've had no issues since then. Sending it back is probably your best bet, unless here happens to be a Microsoft store

    any way other the sending in and paying to get your xbox fixed with update errors?

    @onyx - That is utter nonsense. If it turns out this update toasted my three month old xbox and then I HAVE TO PAY to get it fixed there will h e double l to pay. MS will be looking at a law suit if not a class action law suit.

    @OP If the update broke your xbox it is not unreasonable to hold MS responsible. So long as you have not opened up your console to poke around yourself and the problem is 100% associated with the update you have every right to demand they fix what they
    broke.
