Your TV signal was lost - hooray!

    Hey all,

As of the past month or so, anytime I turn off my TV (just the TV), I get the awesome message "your tv signal was lost". The only fix is to either restart the Xbox, or reconnect the HDMI. Upon doing so, audio and video return.

I've been attempting everything possible, as well as spending a couple hours with MSFT chat and at this point, I'm running out of options. I have:

    - Replaced the HDMI cable

    - Took my AVR out of the equation

    - Tried a second TV

    - Factory reset the Xbox

All to no avail. The issue remains after each of the above. I've went through every possible scenario and have definitely narrowed it down to when the TV goes off and the Xbox is still on. Basically that once the TV goes off, the Xbox doesn't know to re-send
    the signal.

What I am noticing though, is that it's not all channels. Some channels do cause the issue; whereas others do not. This leads me to believe that it's something to do with the resolution of the channel. I am currently playing with different options on forcing
the resolution; however thus far nothing worthwhile.

I have had Xbox One since launch and never had this issue. I have not changed any hardware nor upgraded any firmware on any of my devices. I'm at a loss to why this all of the sudden became an issue, and more importantly, how the heck do I fix it? Microsoft
wants me to send in the Xbox for repair; however I don't think it will resolve anything.

Any support would be most appreciated.

    Thanks!

    :)

    Your TV signal was lost...

Just to note that my #1 no longer seems to work. #2 still does but is mighty inconvenient when your DVR happens to be recording and you can turn it off. What a frustrating device this has been.

  3. Your TV Signal Was Lost

well, i'm unplugging my cable box from my xbox one, since it never works anymore. when i got my xbox one, live tv worked most of the time and, if it didn't, it was easily resolved. now, through the last few updates, live tv works 5% of the time if i'm
lucky, with no way to resolve the error when it occurs. so the update effectively took away functionality from my xbox one, and i'm now unplugging something that's supposed to be a core feature of the system over PS4. way to go xbox/microsoft. cheers all
around on this one. good job.

Another important note (based on multiple other posts I've read out there).

I have forced my DirecTV satellite box to only support 1080i/1080p and then set my Xbox video type to HDMI with 1080p. While this appears to have fixed others, it has not resolved mine.

    Thanks

  7. Same issue here. I am going to try and set my directv box to never go to sleep. I'm fairly certain that will fix the issue as the TV signal (which is the satellite signal) will never quit.

So much for power saving mode.

So I've also confirmed that simply turning off/on the DirecTV receiver fixes the issue too.

I really hope a fix is coming as this is incredibly frustrating.

  11. For me, this has always been a problem, since the very first day I've put in my xbox one.

It manifests in a couple ways:

    - If the directv has been paused too long, the xbox tv app will get confused, and it will take 10-30 seconds after unpausing to start displaying signal again.

    - If I change the receiver to another input (ie, the xbox 360 or roku) and come back, the xbox tv app permanently loses the signal.

    - When I turn the stack on in the morning, once everything comes up, it takes 10-30 seconds for the xbox TV app to start displaying sound & pictures

One other thing I've found that can fix it without restarting the whole xbox one is to force quit and restart the TV app.

You can do this while in the tv app by hitting the xbox button to go to the home screen, then click the Start button, and scroll down to Quit. This will force quit the xbox tv app. Then click it again after a few seconds to restart it.

It doesn't always resolve things, but it usually does.

This set of poor functionality has been present since day one of the xbox one release. It would be really lovely if it would ever be fixed.

My setup: DirecTV -> Xbox One -> Sony Receiver -> Samsung TV

I see there are multiple threads going on about this but this has been my experience which has started to happen in the last 3 months. Also have DirecTV my setup is: DirecTV -> Xbox One -> Denon Receiver -> LG TV

I have the same problem with my Xbox ONE connected through my Denon receiver the only way to get the picture to come up after it has been idle for a while is to unplug the HDMI cable out of the back of the DirecTV box and plug it back in. After doing this
everything runs fine but tell me if I have to get out of my chair every time I watch TV what is the point of "Xbox on" to turn on all my devices at once. It is seriously annoying and I wish there was a solution to this!
