Your "Do's and Dont's" for Titanfall 2

Since visiting this thread, I searched online for how many gigs of HDD space Titalfall takes up. Answer = 1 Gig. WOW!

Cost = $60.00 @ GS

If this isn't the case, then by all means correct it.

^^True. But that doesnt explain these grand delusions that Electro has about disk space and content included on the disc.

I don't believe it, it's just too convenient a way to cut costs and hammer home a higher profit especially since "Does Titanfall have a campaign" can be dodged with "Yes, we're revolutionising.... blah blah blah heard it before".

It sets a bad precedent, which is one of the reasons I will never purchase this game. "Things I want" I couldn't give you but things I don't want?

Well, I have no knowledge of developing games, but this is taken from a interview with Repawn's Vince Zampella;

"We make these single-player missions that take up all the focus of the studio, that take a huge team six months to make, and players run through it in 8 minutes," he said. "And how many people finish the single-player game? It's
a small percentage. It's like, everyone plays through the first level, but 5 percent of people finish the game. According to Vince, Respawn Entertainment have "60-some developers".

I find it very difficult to take anything they have to say seriously. They developed it, they're not going to give anyone the full story.

 

I love single-player games as much as the next guy but i think its unfair to criticize a game because its mp-only. I get why some would chose not to buy i but thats a personal preference and the game was not catered to them n he first place.

There's nothing unfair about it and my problem is not that I think a game should change so I'll like it, it's that if it becomes popular to strip single-player out of shooters we will get less content and it'll quickly become standard across the big developers/publishers.
There's no way that won't happen. That's not something I can support because once that's established it won't be reversed and it's just not something I can see as good for anyone buying or playing the games.

More effort in MP? Yeah, I'm sure, but not as much as we'll lost in the SP and I just think this is a potentially unpleasant area to stray into.

 

Well that depends on the quality of the product itself. Those precedents may suck for us but it jsut means they won't get our money. It's been proven that just simpy adding mp to a game doesn't make immediate success so any shenanigans regarding lack of
sp content will show. I mean, what purpose does adding sp content to Team Fortress 2? I'd rather Valve focusing on making it the best m experience than not even realizing an an attempt to provide content that would feel superfluous.

 

Single player games aren't going anywhere. Mutliplayer games aren't going anywhere. How many times have you played a game with an amazing single player campaign and garbage multiplayer? How many times have you played a game with excellent multiplayer, and
a mediocre campaign?

This is a billion dollar industry. There are more than enough games around that an abundance will be released that suit your taste whatever that may be, without having to compromise the integrity of the product. Developers aren't so ignorant that they have
no idea that there is a massive market out there comprised of people who have no interest in multiplayer. Just ask the developers of Wolfenstein.

No matter who you are or what your taste is, games are going to come out that are not for you. Instead of moaning and crying and worrying about the future, just accept the fact that there are people who prefer the game the way it is, and that's who the developers
had in mind during its development. But take comfort in the fact that developers know there is money to be made off a completely difference audience. An audience that you are a part of.

 

Take a look at the three most popular games on Steam. Dota 2, Counter-Strike: GO, and Team Fortress 2. All three games have no single player campaign. If the multiplayer is high quality, you don't need single player campaign to keep people playing.

I personally don't think Titanfall needs a single player campaign. I played the beta and it was fun. Just keep improving it for the second game.
