Your display does not fully support the HDCP protocol

Apologies if there is already a forum post on this issue but if there is I was unable to find it.

I have been trying to play DVD's through my Xbox One but continuningly get an error informing me that my display does not support the HDCP protocol. I have found forum posts relating to the Xbox 360 that I have used to narrow the issue down to my TV simply
not being HDCP compliant. The solution is reported to be solved by using an Xbox 360 Component HD AV cable.

While these cables seem to available from many sources, what I cannot find are any references to an Xbox
ONE Component HD AV cable. Are these available or will the 360 version be just as suitable for the Xbox One?

Thanks in advance.

:)

2. hey I can sometimes sign into xbox live but when I try to use apps or games online i'm signed out. I have tried everything and have been with customer support 5 times. I have get htpc error 24/7. IF this is a server problem when will it be fixed?

Hello! Hopefully I can help here, however it seems you might be having two separate issues. First, getting signed out whenever accessing an Application or an Game is a common issue. Normally that can be resolved by going into your Dashboard, scrolling
all the way to the right under the Settings Hub, select System, then select Storage. Press Y for Device Options and then select Clear System Cache. Then press your Guide Button, press X to sign out, and from the Guide Menu select Download Profile. Enter
in your Windows Live ID (e-mail) and Password you used to sign up for your Gamertag (e.g. the same information you used to log in on the website) and recover the Gamertag to your Xbox. Once done, turn off your Xbox, count to 30, turn it back on, and see if
your disconnect issue is resolved.

Now, as far as your "HTPC" error, it almost sounds as if you're referring to an "HDCP" error. Normally the error will be "Secure HDCP Link Not Found" or "Secure HDCP Link Lost". This issue occurs only over an HDMI cable connection, when your Xbox 360 is
unable to establish a secure connection to your display device using the High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) protocol.

This can occur for the following reasons:

• There is a device between your Xbox 360 and your display (such as a switch or tuner) that is interrupting the HDMI connection.

• There is a problem with your HDMI cable.

• Your display does not fully support the HDCP protocol.

THINGS TO TRY

Bypass other devices

Some home theater tuners or AV switch boxes feature "HDMI pass through," allowing an HDMI connection from your Xbox 360 to the tuner, then another HDMI cable connection to your display. Some of these devices may prevent your Xbox 360 from performing a proper
HDCP handshake at the start of video playback.

To test if your tuner or switch box is causing the problem, try connecting a single HDMI cable directly from your Xbox 360 to your display. If this resolves the issue, contact the manufacturer of your home theater tuner.

If that does not resolve;

Check if your display supports HDCP

Some displays, while they do allow HDMI cable input, do not fully support the HDCP protocol. Check the manual or website for your display manufacturer to ensure it is fully HDCP compliant.

If your display doesn't support HDCP, you can use an Xbox 360 Component HD AV cable to resolve the issue.

If that doesn't resolve it either;

Replace your HDMI cable

If your display supports HDCP and you still experience the error with a direct connection to your Xbox 360, try using a different HDMI cable.

If this still does not resolve the issue, you may want to test a different display. You can also use an Xbox 360 Component HD AV cable to resolve the issue.

I hope that helped my friend! Take care and feel free to post again if you have any more questions!!!

Cheers!

Xbox 360 Video resolution problem - Solution

You might see video or movie in reduced resolution on your HDTV or monitor. To play a DVD, an HD-DVD, or a downloaded movie in high definition, the High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) protocol is required. But all TVs, monitors, or adapters don’t support HDCP.

So, you have to ensure that your HDTV supports HDCP. You’ll get more info at your TV user manual. DVI ports don’t support the HDCP protocol. You cannot use a DVI port and adapter to connect an HDMI cable to your console. You can try another cable, such as an Xbox Component HD A/V Cable or a VGA cable.

Xbox 360 playback error c101a3ff

You may have a HDCP secure link issue. Check the support page for more details.

This can occur for the following reasons:

• There is a home cinema tuner or AV switch box between your Xbox 360 console and your display that is interrupting the HDMI connection.
• There is a problem with your HDMI cable.
• Your display doesn’t fully support the HDCP protocol.

Windows 8, Xbox Video. Rented streaming movie. Errors (0xc00d11cd) and no picture

The High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) protocol is required to play a DVD, an HD-DVD, or a downloaded movie in high definition. Not all high-definition TVs, monitors, or adapters support this protocol.

•Make sure that your HDTV supports HDCP. Refer to your HDTV user manual for more information.

•You cannot use a DVI port and adapter to connect an HDMI cable to your console. DVI ports do not support the HDCP protocol.

Kinda sucks but it is something that is out of MS control.

Xbox 360 Elite HDTV Display Issue
However DVI is not compatible with Xbox since it does not support HDCP protocol.
DVI handles HDCP just fine. HDCP support is dependent on the devices, not HDMI or DVI. This is really neither here nor there as he's talking about
a specific company (DVI Gear) and not a DVI cable. The cable is HDMI.

While rare, I have come across an HDMI cable that worked on one device, but not on another. If things are marginal enough, they may not work properly. There are two inputs on the TV that support HDMI. Both should be tried. The 360 should be set to 720p as
the TV's a 1366x768 display. 720p is the closest to the native resolution of the display.
