    I waited all night for FORTNITE to download, and when it finally finished, an advertisement keeps popping up and telling me to purchase xbox live gold, and ending up saying " your account does not have the correct permissions to access XBOX LIVE functionally". Do
    I have to have gold, or there's something wrong??

    Your account does not have the correct permissions to access Xbox Live functionally

    Gold is required for online multiplayer. Fortnite is an online only game so you do need gold.

    Have checked all settings and it seems OK.
