You would think in 2016 digital downloads would be cheaper?

u can buy digital games on amazon in the US, you can't in the UK (or very rarely)

Will Halo MCC be a Digital Download?

Gamestop does pre-orders on digital downloads. I just recently pre-ordered Destiny as a digital download, so I'm sure they would do it for MCC. I think they just email you the code.

 

I find that digital prices stay pretty high, but it seems even newish games end up being part of some kind of sale within a few months of release. Sometimes it's only 10% off, but sometimes the deals are even better. I'm just wary of buying digital copies
of games that are a bit of an unknown entity. Tough to swallow a full price purchase then get burned on a game you can't trade or sell.

 

Personally, I prefer the digital games and I will pay a little more for the convenience of not having to go to pick it up and also not having to use the disk when I play. Takes one point of failure out of the equation for gaming, IMO.

 

Down to distrubtion, if all the digital games were cheaper or the same as physical copies, who would stock them then since there wouldnt be much money to be made. This would then likely mean stores not being interested in stocking the consoles and accessories
if they cant shift the games

 

Depends on the mark up, a store will sell anything if they can make enough money.

 

I knew I should have bought GTA 5 when it was on sale for $40 during the MS Christmas sale.

 

Apart from a once a year sale, I have noticed that digital prices on XBMP remains at retial even 3 + years after launch.

IMHO: That policy should change. Especially on 360 games but also on X1 games as well. Yes, PS4\3 too!

 

You can also instantly play it and never have to worry about it breaking or getting stolen.

 

With discs you don't have to wait as long to put your games back after suffering a external hard drive failure. ;-)

 

I love cd keys for my pc games.... Rise of the Tomb Raider pre-order £23.99!!! Mad Max on day of release £14.99!!! Shame Ms and Sony won't reflect these sort of prices.

 

But PC games there competition, there simply not for console.

 

I'd say no competition, and convenience. The only official way to download stuff on Xbox consoles is through Xbox Live. And convenience in at least two areas, 1: don't have to go to a retailer who are generally only open 9-5, where as Xbox Live is open 24/7
and you don't have to leave your house; and 2: when the console can't read the disc, you can't play it and have to get another one. With digital copies, if you delete it or if it gets corrupt, you can download it again as many times as you like.

 

It's the same game on any platform, so why can't it be the same price. If that price dropped on console I'd probably use it a lot more and spend more cash through Live.

I know consoles are more convenient and simple, but these prices will end up pushing more people towards pc. I was one of the people sat on here a year ago saying I would never bother with PC gaming because it's to much hassle and to expensive..... Now,
I take that back.
