I travel back and forth between a few cities and play on multiple xbox ones, the limitation of only being able to switch your home xbox 3 times a year kills me.

You should just be able to set the console as your home console.As many accounts as you want can have the same console set as their home console.You setting the console as your home console should not affect your son having the
console set as his home console.

Simply follow the steps outlined here to set the console as your home console:

In addition to what XBF Leonzo G said just keep in mind that support is under no obligation to reset your home xbox counter.

You can change your home Xbox up to 5 times per rolling year (which should be way more than enough as long as you arent sharing your home xbox with the whole neighborhood to share games which is not what the feature is meant for).

If support denies your request to reset the home Xbox counter then you will have to wait 1 rolling year since the first time you changed your home Xbox before you will be able to change it again.

You can still access all of your content without having to make a console your Home. The only reason you would need to make it your Home is if you're trying to share your content/gold with other people while you're not signed in, or if you'll be playing
offline.

Microsoft learned a lesson to the 360. Xbox tried to be nice by allowing license transfer but it was greatly exploited. On 360, License transfers allowed the console itself hold the rights to the games even if the profile that owns the rights is removed.
That is why they have the HOME console on the Xbox One to try and keep the games on consoles legit.

How can i get 1 more switch on my home xbox

Just curious why youve had to change your home xbox so many time this year? I mean unless its being used in a way that isnt allowed (gamesharing with friends for instance) then 5 times should be way more than enough
for the year.

That being said you can TRY requesting an extra change via the steps listed here under the "changing your home xbox" section. Its not guaranteed that you will get one though.

You can only change your Home Xbox a total of three times in a year, but if you contact Phone Support they should be able to help you reset the counter to make your own console your Home Xbox.
