    I get a "You need Gold for this" message after trying to play online in Gears of War 4 even though I am already a Gold subscriber. Any idea how to fix this? I am unable to play online.

    its bs that i need to pay anyone for something i should be getting for free through my internet otherwise

    It's part of the gold subscription perks. I believe you don't need the gold subscription for the BBC iPlayer application though. It's just how it works I'm afraid.

    If you reverted to silver then you need to purchase a Gold membership again to play online, that is why it is giving you that message. In order to play online again, your account will need to upgrade to Gold.

    If you're trying to send messages on Xbox.com, you have a limit on messages you can send to non friends on here. Also, you would need a Gold membership to send messages on Xbox.com.
