''You need a hard drive to play Destiny'' (please read)

So i bought a 'Xbox 360 Slim 120 GB HDD' for my XB 360 4gb today from Amazon, i plugged it in the Xbox 360 and at the beginning it worked perfectly normal, Destiny was downloaded then it froze at 37%, i tried restarting it and then it said ''You need a Xbox
360 HDD to play Destiny''

What just happened? Please help!

Hello! So I just bought Destiny for Xbox 360 today, and I'm having an issue with getting it started up. Before now I've been using an external hard drive for my Xbox's memory for saving games etc. It has well above the required 20 GB that Destiny needs
to play, but an error keeps popping up whenever I try to go into the game saying "You need an Xbox 360 Hard drive to play Destiny". Do I really have to buy a new hard drive for like $100 to play this game? Will my external hard drive just not work? Please
help!

 

Can't play xbox 360 destiny

I am trying to play Destiny on my xbox 360. I have live and an external hard drive that is formatted to Fat32. But it is saying I need an xbox 360 hard drive. Please help, I have had live for over a month and cannot even use it. Thanks.

 

Sounds like you've bought a 3rd party hard drive which will cause issues.

I'd return it & buy an official Microsoft hard drive.

 

Yeah, there were no official 120gb hard drives for the Slim. Only 250, 320, and 500. So it's not an official drive.

 

Try moving your profile, and saves over to the new HDD.

The only thing an Official HDD will give you that unofficial HDDS can't (At this time) is the ability to play BC Original Xbox games on the 360.

 

There are certain system files that some games like Destiny look for. If the hard drive isn't official and doesn't have those, the games will not work with it.
