@Lofty if Sony announces a price drop at E3 they might as well just sell the PlayStation brand. It wouldn't be a smart move to Sony's bottom line to reduce the profit made from each PlayStation sold.

 

Patientence is a virtue. If you didn't want a Xbox One with Kinect and pay for it, you should have waited...

 

I was surprised they are selling Xbox One without Kinect now. But yeah I like the "panic button" comment. Unfortunately the "gamers" they are trying to appease are PS Fanboys who hate for the sake of hating and probably wont buy a One anyway.

I personally see this as a bad move. I see Kinect taking a backseat to 1080p/60FPS and the system will suffer. The system as it was envisioned 6 months ago. Nothing wrong with 1080p/60fps but it will cost those of us who want great games where the Kinect
is fully utilized. This move will give developers the idea they don't have to use the Kinect so they won't to the degree they would have if the Kinect came with every One. Plus it adds a level of difficulty since not everyone will have a Kinect and if the
developers want to include Kinect functionality either they won't or people won't buy the game. Sometimes to advance you have to take a provocative stance. MS caved. But I guess it's not about advancement but advancing profits.

Say Sony marked the PS4 down to $299 and sold another 4 million PS4's over the next 6 months. Sure the profit margin per unit would be reduced.

However, if your manufacturer(S), and their suppliers could cut "trim the fat" as well. Then you could start eaten away much sooner, or if things go as/better than- planed. Taken a quick chunk, out of your competitors bottom line, and assured yourself of
a much, mush beefier customer base worldwide.

After all, Europe, - with the exception of One - as well as the entire US has yet to "recover" economically from the devastation of... Rescission!

So selling cheaper now could actually be an advantage over the long haul. And with E3 just around the bend. It would be a "Bombshell."

But reducing the price to 299 makes Sony lose even more money, which means even if sales do skyrocket you have hurt yourself just to have more customers. Doesnt make much sense to me. Reducing the price now means in a couple of years if PS is still owned
by Sony, they would be selling consoles at $50 a pop, which would be insane.

 

I have never seen anyone as upset or unhappy about how the XBox ONE works that those who do not own it.

 

Unlike GM, Sony is a company with a track record for planning ahead. Profits isn't all that makes a Company thrive.

And if they see an opening to become the worlds one, and only console manufacture by selling cheaper than the competition. Then that's what they will do.

History shows that even Nations during the "cold war" Forced other nations to spend themselves ragged. It took Russia 2 decades to recover. But in the competitive world of Capitalism. Competitors who fail are most likely never heard from again.

 

But they can announce a PS4 at $350 or keep it at $400 with a free game (digital) and PSN allows you to keep your free games (instead of renting them).

Since Microsoft doesn't act like he is leading his own vision and Xbox brand,Sony got even more freedom to make moves.

 

One thing you need to realize is that a lot of these posts you see that are throwing temper tantrums may not actually be a true Xbox gamer. There are plenty of anti-Xbox gamers who have nothing better to do with their tine than come to these forums or others
just to post nonsense to make MS look bad. Which is funny in of itself because we all have our own views & opinions and some lame attempt at trolling isn't going to change anything.

I had the XB1 since Day One and have been using it almost everyday since, just like I did the 360. Games AND entertainment at its most fun.

With all the reveals prior to E3 and then E3, I'll be glad to see more friends getting into XB1.

My only problem with MS right now is that they are (as already stated) bending over backwards to address the negative feedback. Eventually this will create a scale of 2 groups. Happy and Unhappy. People that are happy don't tend to complain about being happy
so there isn't really any feedback to address there. However if they are constantly going to please the unhappy, then the happy will start to have things go against them. I just hope we don't get to that.

 

I got mine too and will keep it until the end of his lifecycle....But also,i can be disagree with some Microsoft moves,especially lately.It won't change anything,i know,Microsoft seems to listen the ones who doesn't own it and i don't have several million
friends who might buy an Xbox...I hope,they will find back their own path and vision.....

 

MS caters to a group of people who dont want something they are criticized. They dont cater to those people they are criticized.

 

They'll still be selling it with the console. All they did was open up another option. There is no basis for a lawsuit here, let alone a Class Action.

So a price cut isn't out of the question if it gets more consoles into houses.

 

Sony's gaming division lost $80 million in the last year. Their financial report came out just a few days ago.
