You can't acquire this item in your currently selected language (RESOLVED)

Hello Dear Community,

I have an Xbox One X purchased in UK 3 weeks ago, I have now purchased a Dungeon Siege 3 game from Game.co.uk and when I try to redeem the game it says: "You can't acquire this
item in your currently selected language. Change your language region in Settings or go to microsoft.com//redeem"

Again, the console and the game were bought in the UK, my language settings are all set to English (United Kingdom) yet the game fails to activate. I tried changing the console to some other language regions but none would work. Game.co.uk could not tell
me the region of the game.

Is there any way to tell from the code what region is the game for? I have followed online instruction, Microsoft experts etc. and it just does not work.

This is now resolved.

Turns out that apart from language region settings in my main Microsoft account and Xbox account, the core setting resides in Xbox 360 account (I don't own Xbox 360... makes perfect sense). For some reason my account there was set to US, as soon as it was
changed back to UK, I could redeem the game code successfully.

Note this change can happen only once every 3 months.

I wish Microsoft would make things more obvious.

The question is rather 'why' do I have to switch the language, if the Xbox and game is from the UK?

I could understand some grey market key, but this was official product download from a major UK shop and my Xbox was just purchased brand new from another major shop.

If I buy or obtain another key in the future - how can I be sure that it will work? Or otherwise how can I check what 'language region' requirements are and what are they for a game?

Xbox doesn't switch languages. But there are USB drives on the web that sell location and language switches. You can plug it into the Xbox and switch it around。

Changing language/region to English USA did not help. The message was the same: "you can't acquire this item in your currently selected language".
