i am on java edition (pc) and this did not help, it said something similar, "You are not logged into your Minecraft account." and sometimes it says, "Missing profile public key." i have tried to open every single one of my servers about 10 times, and it always says on of those. what does minecraft want from me???

Edit- and now its also saying, "Error: Authentication to Minecraft.net Failed."

Edit2- and now its also saying, "Failed to Verify Username!"

Edit3- im trying to join one of my servers, i thought it was working, but now i need a license??? god im so confused-

Please try the next, all together:
First uninstall actual minecraft launcher.
(Don't forget to backup your worlds if necessary)
Open Settings, click Update and Security and then Windows Update;

Click Check for Updates;

Click the Download and Install Now option, if available (Install optional updates as well)

Also, check the Microsoft Store for any updates on the Xbox apps and its services and update everything too.

Now, sign out from your account on both Xbox app and Microsoft Store and do this:

Go to windows settings > apps > search for gaming services app > click on it and select advanced options.

After that, click repair and then reset

Then do the same for the Xbox app:

Go to windows settings > apps > search for Xbox app > click on it and select advanced options.

After that, click repair and then reset

Finally do this:

Step 1: Open the Run window by pressing Windows + R key.

Step 2: Input WSReset.exe in the Run window and click OK.

Step 3: Then a command prompt window will appear. After a few seconds, Windows Store will open.

Sign in again on both Microsoft store and Xbox app with your account, install minecraft launcher and give it a new try

I've had this issue for +24hrs at this point.

I was playing normally in a realm, closed minecraft to do dishes, came back half an hour later and now I can't connect to ANY form of server, and my gf started having the issue immediately after i did (same wifi)

Based on the endless searches we've been going through, the only commonality I've observed (which may be entirely false) is that typically it occurs in households/connections with *all* players within being effected.

Because of this I'm led to believe it's on Microsoft's end. This sucks. We literally purchased a realms sub 2 days ago.

same here , i followed the steps and when i tried to install the mc launcher again it didnt let me, error 0x87e00196

PS: just look on all those critical reviews on game services app, may be the problem, may need to uninstall it an and install it again

PS: solved it, just needed to update the gaming services app, not only microsoft updates

I am having the exact same problem although it started today. Don't have anything to add although I did follow the steps and it did not work
