Do you have a Microsoft account if not you need to go to account.microsoft.com and create that on the computer. Then you need to add this account to your console. Go to settings and then account and you can add that.

Yeah my Game shop does beat by a pound also I went in the other week and was offered £76 after I mentioned the deal I finally got £130 on my Game gift card !!

A cheap cable will be just as effective for your console as an expensive brand. I use one bought from a Pound Shop (a Dollar Store for US folk) and it works perfectly with my Xbox 360.
