"Don't know what they were thinking with that idea... other than perhaps they weren't..." ...

I think you hit the nail on the head there Blue Xur is selling Red Death ;)

Once more, I think Destiny was a good shooter especially when played in co-op with a few friends/family. It played really well, it looks fantastic, for me though once you had seen it all it just felt it had become a serious grind just to get better weapons/armour
    etc.

Mind you can grind in a lot of games, whether it's to level up, earn cash to buy better equipment, cars, outfits etc. It just boils down to how much you enjoy a certain game. I can spend hours upon hours on various racing games speeding around a handful of
tracks, others would get bored after half a lap, everyone is different.

So well done to Destiny on winning it's awards, do I think it deserves them? not even close but many expected it to win awards, GOTY etc before they even played it, I mean with Bungie behind it some were never going to be in doubt.

All I hope is now Bungie have listened to the criticism the game did receive and make sure or do their best to make Destiny 2 the Epic that the first one promised to be, just my opinion of course.

  2. I agree @Lofty. If the game wasn't worth the criticism, I would have moved on and just forgotten about it awhile back. What it does right, it does brilliantly. Unfortunately that, in some ways, pretty much amplifies what it does wrong to the point of seeming
like a polar opposite. The thing is, it does both in some pretty glaring ways.

I'm not one to fall in line with all the GOTY hype, for any game, any year. GOTY... Why would I weigh in on that? Why would anyone who hasn't played them all? IMO

    @ Blue,

I've always struggled to pick a GOTY, trouble is I always change my mind but it just depends what mood I'm in at the time, like right now I could cheerfully go online and play some Forza, later on it might be Dying Light.

As you said, unless you've played them all then who knows? I've still got quite a few games that I've yet to start, loads of games out there that I have no interest in but who's to say if I actually played one that I wouldn't love it?

End of the day you like eggs, I prefer bacon, we are all different.

I do find some gamers though a strange bunch and I don't mean that in a nasty way. I've been reading various sites since it was announced about the awards Destiny has received and the arguments breaking out is ridiculous! Why do gamers go into defensive
mode over a difference of opinion in the games they like or dislike? I bet the same gamers if they were discussing a film, was it good or bad wouldn't give it a second thought if someone else disagreed, disagree about a game though and ... "Prepare for war"
    ... lol

Well let's suppose that there were 10 thousand people that felt the same as you.

    No... let's round fractions up.

Let's say there are 100 thousand people that feel the same as you.

Divide that number by 3 Million and that will show you just how in touch you are with modern day gaming.

I'll be the first to admit "Destiny" is no "Goat Simulator" or "Jet Car Stunts"... but then if we all liked the same thing the world would be a pretty dull place.

I'm sure you cut quite the dapper figure in your tri-cornered hat.

    @ Az,

Fortunately I don't have to go with the "crowd" to justify/make myself feel better about my choices.

If I like or dislike a game it's not because of the numbers sold, high or low, it won't be because of how many awards it has received, it won't be because of the reviews, again high or low.

I'll like or dislike it because of what experience 'I' had playing it! The game won't be any different for me if it sold 100 million copies or 10,000.

If you can get more enjoyment from a game, feel better about your choice because it's received more awards than another game, your in with a bigger crowd then fair play to you, enjoy. In fact give us a few days and I'll name some future games that will no
doubt sell in huge numbers, receive numerous awards no matter what the actual game plays like.

I guess though I could be wrong, I mean the internet is telling me how good Destiny is, how many it sold, how many awards it's one so it's obviously the only game I need.

Anyway folks, I'm off to watch a film with the wife and the great news is this film has been absolutely applauded by the critics there's absolutely no way I'm not going to enjoy it.

  10. Well let's suppose that there was only 1 person that felt the same as me.

    No... let's keep things simple.

Let's say that I'm the only person who feels as I do. (Although I dare say I doubt that)

Divide that number by 3 Million and that will show me that I'm not just one in a million... I'm one in 3 million. Let me make it even simpler yet... no division necessary and only 2 numbers. The number 1, me. I feel how I feel, I am who I am and I dis/like
what I dis/like. And the number 0. That's the number of people required in order for me to feel justified in my gaming dis/likes. Hence, whether or not I'm in touch with modern day gaming means nothing to me. I'm in touch with my own gaming.

I'll be the first to admit "Destiny" is a very good game. One I still play almost daily. But I'm just not the type to shout out its praises without also pointing out its pitfalls. It has both.

@ Lofty. I'm not sure about you... but I rarely ever wear hats. lol

    @ Blue,

I wear a hat more now mate. My wife got me a nice woolly hat before Christmas, now where my hair is always very short and I'm going a little thin on top, it keeps my head lovely and warm in the cold weather Xur is selling Red Death :)

I totally agree with your comments about being in touch with modern gaming, all that will ever matter to me is I'm in touch with my own gaming. Some people will like the same games as me, a lot won't, we are all different.

As I said before though, I don't and will never go with 'The Crowd' just because they say a game is good, if I think the game looks good then I'll jump on board, if I don't like the look of it I won't jump on board just so I can say I'm in with the cool
crowd, some though feel they need to though but that's entirely up to them, doesn't affect me one way or another.

LOL fair point I spose, I still think Destiny lacks content personally I enjoyed my time on it though. Now I have a external drive I might reinstall it to hunt down those last few ghosts.

I think the best way to put it (for me) would be that it needs more content than what its enjoyment level supports... if... that makes sense. The game is well put together on a
mechanics level and it's a blast to play. As much play as I've gotten from it (and I still play it regularly), I think any game would become repetitive. Of course, you'd have to include the point that I don't do PvP.

Not to mention the fact that enemy spawns and AI tactics that never really change, isn't helping matters at all. TBH, the game has been out for quite awhile... long enough that
many games would be long forgotten and left behind for the next big title. Yet, many people still play it regularly, all the while complaining about the lack of content. To me, that says the game is at least good enough for people to still be complaining about
the lack of content. If it wasn't that great, then most people would have moved on, deeming it not worthy (or perhaps not worthy of wanting would be a better statement) more content.

Edit: Just wanted to add, Red Death is an awesome weapon, only made better by the recent buff that pulse rifles received. I've had it for awhile and for those who enjoy pulse rifles,
    I think you'll like it.

^you cant say it lacks content just because you dont like the content.

Alien Isolation is just a big ship with a big alien if you put it like that.

If you managed to play it everyday for a few months that suggests there is a decent amount of content there.
