I cant believe it beat Alien Isolation at the BAFTA game awards, apparently there was an audible gasp of disbelief in the room when it was announced.

Destiny is a solid game no reason why it shouldnt have won.

 

Theres plenty of reasons why it shouldn't have one. Mainly lack of any story and repetitive gameplay. Its great at what it does, but frankly it doesnt do a great deal.

 

"Alien: Isolation" is a brilliant game too. I understand why "Destiny" pipped it though.

As for who are these "experts".

It's not Gamespot. They're just one of many sites reporting who won the BAFTA for best game.

"The British Academy Games Awards showcases and rewards "the very best games of the past 12 months," and saw over 51 games nominated across 17 categories".

It's hardly a surprise.

It just goes to show how out of touch with modern gaming so many of the self proclaimed 'regulars' are.

Red Death is a great weapon so if you can make sure you pick up this essential piece of kit.

 

Every game is repetitive. There are more levels and different setting in Destiny than a lot of games. The game does not lack content. 4 planets each with 5/6 missions and at least one strike plus a raid and MP. Plenty of content there, granted it wasnt as
much as they had hyped up but its there. After playing any game for 50+ hours it is going to get repetititve.

Edit: granted the story is not well told and the loot mechanics to begin with were annoying but with still so many people playing it and enjoying it then it must be doing something right.

P.S. There is no reason why Alien Isolation shouldnt have won it either.

 

Az as has also been reported in the news most of the assembled industry insiders were surprised to say the least by the announcement as none of the genuine experts (eg the people in the industry) could actually believe it.

Mind you i really am not surprised that you now laud the BAFTA judges as "experts" If Isolation had taken the prize I suspect you would have called them fools who know nothing about gaming.

Alien Isolation should have beaten it in my opinion having played both of them and finished Isolation, but that is just my opinion based on my experience of both games.

I don't think it shows that any regulars are out of touch with modern day gaming at all. Its just you clutching at the straw that validates your opinion of Destiny and so the opinion must have been given by experts. Which you are perfectly entitled to
think and claim.

 

Boas I played it every night for a few months, please don't tell me it lacks content, the missions and strikes and raids are the same with varying levels of difficulty. The enemies spawn the same and the missions dont vary. Admittedly it has the PvP
side of things but that doesnt interest me.

Alien Isolation is just a big ship with a big alien if you put it like that.

If you managed to play it everyday for a few months that suggests there is a decent amount of content there.

 

LOL fair point I spose, I still think Destiny lacks content personally I enjoyed my time on it though. Now I have a external drive I might reinstall it to hunt down those last few ghosts.

A better game would have been Defiance with the graphical fidelity of Destiny. Just imagine how real Pow Tipping would be!

-The best story,story telling,lore ?

-The best gameplay ?

-The best content (at launch) and after launch (DLC/updates) ?

-The best multiplayer/coop/pvp ?

Not sure if Destiny is number 1 in one of these categories.So it's hard to believe it can be best game (all genre).And,i guess this is what is called (average) " modern gaming".

But a game doesn't need to be "the best" to be enjoyable.It's called taste.

 

It does need more content, but I have seen a lot worse, games that can be finished in 5 hours with no replay value. Destiny will be a lot better after a few expansions, say after comet is released and then 2 expansions from that, you could be looking at
spending days just doing bounties.

The worst thing they did is make the exotics not exotic and just slightly rare
