    I've been an Xbox user for almost a decade now, and has been my primary console, but recently, i've completely lost ALL faith in Microsoft as the Xbox live service has gone to hell.

    Security proofs happened, and ever since then, it will NEVER let me sign in AT ALL.

    I click sign in, asked for email address & password, then asks me to remember, then ERROR CODE 8007007A and it signs me out.

    so i do what anybody does, i look for the error code, check whats happening and apply the steps to fix it.

    so far i have

    • Updated Billing Info
    • Updated Alternate Email
    • Updated Password
    • Updated Secondary Email
    • Updated Alias
    • Updated Phone Number

    So i try again... no luck.

    So then:

    • Delete Profile
    • Clear Cache MULTIPLE times
    • Re-Download Profile
    • Delete Latest System Patch
    • Reinstall Latest System Patch
    NOTHING will fix this.

    i've contacted Customer Support, at MY OWN PERSONAL EXPENSE and all they do is quote the same as the support website, no matter HOW MANY TIMES I'VE TOLD THEM I'VE TAKEN THOSE STEPS



    i am literally hovering over the close account button, as i think my time with Xbox Live is at an end, this is a disgusting way to treat your community, you've had my money for a decade now, i think i deserve a little respect, it's been MONTHS, months i
    have still been paying for Xbox Live
    and NOTHING has helped

    Someone, ANYONE, please, tell me how to fix this before i have an aneurysm and launch this brick out the window.

    UPDATE: LATER THAT EVENING:

    Just off the chat/call with the Lovely Corazon who calmed me down a bit, unfortunately, after another cache clear/profile download still no change to my situation, escalated to the Account Specialist team who should get in touch with me within 4 days.

    I'll keep people up to date with the situation as it develops in the hope that this issue does not happen to any one else.

    Well, update:

    It's been 5 days, problem still persists and no one has been in touch with me.

    Almost feels like they just told me it was escalated to get me off the chat system.

    Completely Useless.

    Microsoft do not give a flying *** about it's userbase, we've basically kept it afloat for years.

    Back when Xbox started, it was a gamble for microsoft to get into the console market, and it's been a joke, MIcrosoft on PC are a useless, old, behind the times, second rate company.

    Internet Explorer = Useless

    Bing = Useless

    Windows = Sub Par mess that requires more tinkering and removing bloatware than ANY OTHER OS

    Games for Windows = Laughable attempt at a steam-type UI

    The online comminuty knows Microsoft are a joke, and it's been Xbox that have kept it in the money for over a decade.

    and this is how we, the community are treated?

    And just a heads up, i am from the UK, which means your clause that states we can't sue you, does not count.

    if i do not get a response within 7 days from this post, i am going to speak to my solicitor.

    This is a Microsoft issue alone, Not the user's account. This dates back to 2008 for the same 8007007A code and has Never been solved, Not once for the x-box people anyway..

    I feel your pain as currently I am in the same exact position as yourself. You try all the things you can to try and fix it to no avail. The first call I made the team member made a snyde comment under her breath and hung up on me. Called back and was on
    the phone over an hour and a half only to redo everything that I had already done just to be given a case number and told to call back. I was told the error code I am getting was new even though there are posts with the same code from 2011. So I waited like
    a good boy. I placed a call 2 days later to billing to see if they could do anything. In the end I was given a new case number and told I would have a personal advocate to help me thru this. So here is day 6 nothing has changed and funny enough no contact
    from said advocate. Even some from of communication would be great. They have a problem, dont know how to fix it, and will ignore us until it just magically works itself out. It makes it worse to see they are treating other faithful customers the same way.

    Absolutely. This all started for me on Sunday myself. My Xbox would not connect to live and so I tried doing the whole removing of the system cache, deleting my profile and redownload it. Ths is when te real problem started. Would not let me redownload my
    profile. Gave them a call and yes we did try every possible troubleshooting trick there was. We got nowhere so he escalated it. Next day came home from work in the morning and had an idea of simply changing my password on my MSLID and it downloaded it no problem.
    So I get back to my dashboard and try going into Netflix and its telling me I need to upgrade to gold. Um what? I have an autorenewal plan and it is the supposed to charge my card on the 24th of every month. Now I can understand if there was a expiration
    problem or a past due amount but like I said it should not even attempted a charge on my card whatsoever before that date. So I give them a call again and the tech gave me a redeem code to see if that would work. This is where it gets really strange. Once
    I put in the redeem code I am now getting a message saying my biling account has been locked and he suggests that I try with my own credit card again and that they would refund it back to me. So I tried but this time I am not getting a message stating my account
    was locked but it wouldn't go through with the charge instead it looped me back to the membership option screen again.

    I Want to know what happened in between the time I downloaded my profile and the time I called the tech that morniing I got home from work. Before I even caled I checked my subcription status and it was still good to go until the 24th. Now I have a novel
    size documentation of everything I have discussed with the techs and once again they escalated it. I am on a silver status and ca't get back to gold. The thing I really can't understand is why they would knock me down to silver status membership. Want answers
    and I am not getting anything. Have thisprofile for 7 years and I am not losing it. If they can't get me back to my gold status again I'm afraid I will have to part ways.

    UPDATE:

    Tried to download my profile on my friends Xbox, same issue, turns out he had the same issue too, and now he is using some disposable account he made.

    I tried to bypass the error code screen by removing the latest patch, killing the internet, signing in offline and trying to force access to my account management page to see if i can turn 'ask for password' off, but that doesn't work at all.

    www.xbox.com/proofs forwards me to my account management page online, then following that labyrinth, my options for changing my automatic-sign in settings are either.... sign in to my xbox. (i hate you,
    microsoft) or go to http://support-preview.rtm.vint.xbox.com/en-us/billing-and-subscriptions/account-security/password-protect-account

    I had a problem and that error code and after a frustrating call with customer support it seems that my credit card has been banned for any and all purchases and "that there is absolutely no way to unblock it." The supervisor at the call center said that
    he was the highest person that I could talk to and there was no one else he could transfer me to or provide me with a number to call to talk to someone higher, as far as he was concerned he was the highest authority on this issue.

    And did they give you any reason WHY it was banned?

    It can't be that though, as i said in the OP, i have updated ALL my payment/billing info.

    Also... even after i talked to them again, and the fact that i complained about the length of time and an extra note was added to my reference.

    still no contact.

    Also, there are meant to be engineers on the forums to keep track of issues.

    why are they not replying to this thread, or even emailing me?

    Have you tried sorting this out with your bank as well? As most of the time, it is down to them and not the support team.

    Just forget about Microsoft and pick up a PS4. They never contacted me about my issue, so without answering my question they answered my question. They don't like my money anymore and I don't want to wait around for them. Should have just stuck with Sony
    for all these years, they are who I started with and they know what they are doing. Let me just clarify something, I am not a "fanboy" for either system, what I am is a fan of is quality. I have had 6 Xboxes in 7 years and it was my own stupidity to go back.
    1 PS, 2 PS2, 1 PS3(have had it since launch) and now a PS4. I have had less PS systems combined throughout their 4 generations then Xbox 360 for this generation. Like I said it was nobodies fault except my own for going back and not learning. Microsoft needs
    to address some of their customer service skills or lack there of.

    This is Terry with the Xbox Customer Care Advocacy Team. I am happy to say that I am finished with your account. Let me share my results when attempting to reproduce your issue.

    When taking your account in-house, I was able to download your profile to a test Xbox 360 console without any problems. Because I could not reproduce the issue on my end, it's a good indication, if the issue
    persists, that the issue is on your end and the cause is most likely either your storage device or a connection.


    I have included the steps to recovery your account along with some general troubleshooting steps below that you can try. I also recommend going over step 3 of the connectivity steps as I have had some success recently where the Internet Service Provider
    (ISP) just needed to do a quick reset.

    Regain Control of Your Account

    Go to Outlook.com - Microsoft free personal email

    Click the link labeled Can't Access Your Account?

    Choose the radio button I forgot my password

    Click Reset your password

    Enter your Microsoft account and the characters displayed in the appropriate boxes

    Click Next

    Select the radio button labeled Email me a reset link

    Click Next

    A password reset email will be sent to the alternate email address

    Follow the instructions in the email to reset your password

    Once your password is reset, you will be able to recover your Gamertag to your XBOX 360 console

    Connectivity

    1) Use a wired connection: This will eliminate any potential issues with interference that can be caused by wireless devices.

    2) Directly connect your Xbox to your modem: This step will only work if your modem does not also function as a router, as this step is to eliminate any issues that are caused by Network Address Translation (NAT) blocks. Additional resources regarding the
    ports used by Xbox live can be found here: Network ports used by Xbox LIVE

    3) Check your Internet Service Provider (ISP) - Xbox LIVE does not support Wireless or satellite based ISP. If you are unsure of what type of internet service you have, you should contact your ISP. You can also have them check to see if there are any issues
    affecting your network health, depending on the tools your ISP has at its disposal.

    Try another storage device

    Power off your Xbox 360 console, and remove the hard drive.

    Try another Xbox 360 hard drive or Format a USB Flash Drive for use with the Xbox 360 console.

    Download your profile to the alternate storage device.

    Attempt to access your gamertag from the alternate storage device and see if the issue persists.

    Again, I am confident in saying that your profile is not the issue as I could not reproduce the error you are experiencing on my end.

    Are they *** serious?

    1. I said i had tried it on different consoles, therefore it's not my hardware or storage.
    2. Other profiles on my xbox work perfectly fine, therefore it's not my ISP
    3. They've completely ignored the fact that i told them i'm hardwired in, not wireless.
    4. How did he manage to do all that in the 11 seconds it took me to BOOT HIM OUT OF MY ACCOUNT when my PC flagged someone signing in as me?
    5. He could never reproduce it when he didnt have enough time to sign in, download my profile, then sign in again, as i had already changed the password as soon as it was flagged someone accessed my account
    Seriously, what a joke... months of this, and nothing has been done. a bit of forewarning would have been nice too, they asked permission to use my account, and i said sure OK, go for it.. then about 9 days later someone randomly accesses my microsoft account,
    first thing i do is kill the connection, change password and secure my account. only AFTER this do i run a traceroute and find the IP is coming from a microsoft employee, so naturally, a random access 9 days after the request should possibly have started with
    an email or something from them saying "OK, we're going to access your account now, please finish what you are doing, your service may be offline for an hour or two, we will email you when it is finished"

    And AGAIN, nothing has been said on the forums, no feedback from Xbox Technicians at all

    UPDATE: Issue is fixed.

    Turns out microsoft, for some reason or another, deleted my hotmail alias, so it didnt work for signing in, but could still receeve emails.

    So the alias was removed, i can now log into my xbox correctly, but now EVERY.SINGLE.ACCOUNT associated with my hotmail.com email address no longer works.

    i asked them if they could repopulate the alias so i could change my email address, and forward my important mails (like my god damned flight tickets which are now gone) but i've had ZERO response as soon as i said i could log into my xbox now.

    thanks microsoft, problem *** fixed i guess...

    So yeah, check your aliases, make sure you move all your important stuff out of your account before the alias is removed, or you'll be up *** creek without a paddle like i am.
