XOne looses internet connection when external HD is connected

I encountered a strange problem. Whenever I connect my WD My Passport Ultra USB 3 external harddrive to my XOne console, the internet connection is lost. I already formatted the HD multiple times as well on my PC as on the console. Last night i downloaded
a game when the connection was interrupted. Since then I'm facing this problem. Some installed games have also disappeared and I couldn't copy files from external to internal any more. Internal disc space was used in the copying process, but the data couldn't
be accessed via the my games menu and didnt show up in harddrive management.

I've always been skeptical that a external HD connected by USB is as fast as a internal HD. When I play by external HD on the 360 sometimes game saves take some time to populate into the menu but this doesn't happen with the internal HD.

Ok, tried with a different external HD. Same problem. The moment i connect it to the console it disconnects from the internet. Connection can't be restored until i unplug the external device and restart the system. It doesn't matter whether the hd is formated
as xbox one storage device or ntfs media device. Result is the same. Has anybody else experienced this problem?

 

Are you a member of the preview dashboard update? That seems to be the main problem. I can't get online either. Seen a few people post saying that they could get online using a wired connection if you want to try that.

 

Yes i am. Sorry i didn't find the correct board. Wired Connection is not an option I'm afraid. My router is on another floor. Thank you for your answer. I have a xbox one in another apartment. On this xbox i have not installed the preview dashboard. I will
try this one out as soon as I get there and keep you informed.
