Xcom 2: War of the Chosen crashes hard on Xbox Series X

As the subject implies, I'm experiencing severe crashes - one of them so hard it wiped my Iron Man on Commander difficulty level save.

These crashes has happened twice in two separate campaigns, and I've experienced them under these circumstances:

- Playing on Commander difficulty with Iron Man (single save, auto saves) turned on
- Playing Supply Raid / Tag the advent crates missions
- The mission had a mix of the Chosen, Advent and the Lost taking turns
- Seems to happen after activating the 2 pod, but I'm not sure that is a factor

- My current game continues to crash in that mission, no progress possible (again Iron Man, I can't just reload an earlier save or skip the mission)

I'm not sure if this is Xbox related or 2K/Firaxis related, but as I've experienced these hard crashes after playing the game on my Xbox Series X, the BC team probably should be made aware of the issue as it is a game stopper.

Welcome to Xcom 2. Firaxis, Blind Squirrel, demons from hell, whoever made that game refuses to update it into anything useful. Nor will they refund the purchase. Yay capitalism.

The game certainly needs an update, that is true. The way I see it, iron man playthroughs are impossible, or at the very least risky, as it is right now.

You may be able to get through a non-ironman playthrough with the abundance of saves available, but the game will still crash from time to time, possibly deleting some progress in the process.

Unfortunately iron man is the only fun way to play the game, imo, once you've progressed to a certain skill level in the game.

I completely agree that you should be able to get a refund for the game, if [whoever-is-responsible] doesn't patch the game. It is not working as it should, unfortunately for most people, they may only realize that once they've played 10+ hours.

It is a shame, as a working version of this game it among the best turn-based strategy games I've ever played. For now, that working version of the game can only be found on PC (and perhaps other consoles).
