Xboxone won't start/recognise my external hard drive

My xboxone won't recognize my external hard drive! Can somebody help me?

External Hard Drive not recognised at all

Hi,

i have an external hard drive with movies on that I always used to use on my XB1 via the media player with no problems, since the latest update it won't recognise the drive at all.

Any ideas?

 

Games not appearing on external hard drive

After power cycling my Xbox I can't access any of the games on my external hard drive, the console recognises the external hard drive and knows that it is 68% full but nothing appears on it. None of my games on the internal drive will start either due
to the 'Taking too long to start' error. I've tried restarting, power cycling and reconnecting the power cable but nothing so far has worked. Disconnecting and reconnecting the external hard drive hasn't worked either. Has anyone had experience with this or
knows a fix?

Have you tried connecting the HDD and then restarting the system? Perhaps it needs to have the HDD present when booting up. Also, would you be able to provide us with the specs of the extension HDD you have?

 

To add on to Saeleth's comment. Have you tested the external HD on another device like a PC to make sure it works?

 

Have you tried connecting the external hard drive to another device to see if it is recognizable? Also try restarting the system.
