XBOXONE not send ssdp notify and not response to ssdp discovery

I have a xboxone and found that it not sends ssdp notify while connected to a network, and it also not response to ssdp discovery such as:

M-SEARCH * HTTP/1.1

Host: 239.255.255.250:1900

MAN: "ssdp:discover"

MX: 10

ST: upnp:rootdevice

Any one could help?

I have seen it sends ssdp discovery search for "InternetGatewayDevice", but why no notify and not response to discovery ?

I checked services “SSDP Discovery” and “UPnP Device Host”. Both are started.

 

Windows 8 and XBox not seeing each other.

ok lets try getting this solved!..

To start; open the windows 8 start screen, and types services, select settings and click on local services.

Once there, click on the name tab to place everything is alphabetical order.

now find these services and make sure they are running and set to automatic :

-device association service

-dhcp client

-ssdp discovery

-upnp device host

-media center extender service

once this is done, restart the following services so that all connected services also restart:

-dhcp client

-ssdp discovery

upnp device host.

let me know how it goes after those steps.

I suspect your PCAP has captured packets over the air?

What is the make&model of the device that you're running the UPnP deamon on?

 

Internet connection is OK. I just want to enumerate all upnp devices in local lan and found that xboxone's behavior does not meet the upnp spec.

 

Yes. I wrote a tool run on a router which not support upnp, and this tool is trying to enumerate all upnp device in local lan.

Does network connection type affect xboxone's ssdp behavior?

Our suggestion here, this might be that the UPnP is not being recognized and may need some activation in relation to the
Xbox One console.

What IGMP version are you running on your router?

"Connection type" as in wired, or wireless?

Do you have your your console set to Instant-on mode, or Energy-saving?

Just to clarify; these two devices sits on on the same subnet?

 

I'm not a Xbox Software Engineer, so this is purely speculation on my end.

But I'd assume that the engineers only put the bare necessities form the UPnP spec into the Xbox system that is necessary for the device to work.

Meaning, the Xbox will only ask for the Gateway Device and try to set up the necessary port forwarding through UPnP.

With the addition of the Media Player App you might also find that this app tries to connect to UPnP compliant Media Servers, so the Xbox can stream music and video from such a media server.

Everything else is probably not implemented, as this is usually not needed in 99,9% of the console usage. Unless a much larger number of Xbox gamers know how to write an UPnP enumerator in their spare time, Microsoft doesn't see the need for a full UPnP
implementation, where the console responds on discovery requests, as this is not an "everyday" feature that a "standard" user expects from his device.

So you might want to try to find some software engineers from the Xbox team that work on the Xbox system to ask them why they decided to not reply to those notify and discovery requests.
