    Xboxlive problem or hardware malfunction?


    So since Christmas time, I've been having issues connecting to xboxlive. I've been using a wired connection with my comcast router through a netgear internet booster and it's been like that since last June and no problems until this past christmas. Since
    christmas, it would sometimes not connect at all saying "IP address error" or "DNS error". I would go through all the support options to get some help through these issues, yet no fruition. Sometimes I'd connect and it would stay connected for 5-10 mins before
    disconnecting again and saying the same issues. A while ago, I had attempted a static wired connection, attained all i needed except the DNS servers, which comcast could not help me with, no matter who i talked to. I've exhausted all options except for asking
    my fellow gaming community for some other options i could use. Perhaps my hardware is an issue? I've had my current xbox360 elite since '11 or '12, however I don't want to waste money on getting another if its not a hardware issue.

    Hello,

    Since the first update in 2018 my console has been having issues. One of said issues is games, apps, and everything else taking too long too start (even xbox idle). The only way to fix this is to power cycle, however it is only fixed for 15 minutes to an
    hour before I have to power cycle again. When this happens I cannot do anything on my console game or app wise. I have tried to factory reset and got no results, even tried to edit startup settings (which seemed to help others) and still got nothing.

    Any help would be very appreciated, would love to be able to play my Xbox without my games black screening after half an hour(ish).

    P.s.) As of yesterweek games will not install or download after 15-45 minutes without a power cycle.

    Oh and my console is the first XB1 to be released after the "Day One" Edition. Got mine on day 1 but it was the normal version.

    Hi there,

    if a power cycle will only fix it temporary, then I suggest doing a factory reset (with keeping Games and Apps installed)

    See this links for the steps on how to perform the factory reset: Reset Xbox One Console to Factory Defaults

    Keep in mind that you will need the account credentials in order to download your profile again.

    If this doesn't fix the issue either, then it might be a hardware issue and I suggest contacting Xbox Support to see if they have any other steps to try.

    Delete the hardware? Do you mean software? Stick drift is a hardware malfunction and can’t be corrected with software upgrades.
