XboxLive notifications on PC?

Does anyone know of any software on pc that allows you to view your online friends on xboxlive and to send and receive messages. (similar to a skype interface)

Notifications with August update. How to remove them?

Does anyone know how to turn off the notifications so I dont see every time someone replies to my pics and videos on xboxlive? Really dont need a notification for every single "nice job" "lol" or "wow awesome". I don't have or ever want Facebook and
I don't want my xboxlive experience to be like Facebook.

isnt smartglass just a remote for you 360? i want something i can access from the taskbar to easily view my friends and send messages.

You don't need Windows 8 to use Smartglass.

Just download the correct version for your console on your smartphone, there is a 360 and One version and that will do all you want.

It's a waste of time downloading Smartglass for Windows 8 in the OP's case since the default Games app will do all he wants.

If you want something to sit in your taskbar on XP, Vista, and 7 then grab the free Games for Windows Live title 'Tinker' and leave that running in the background.

Edit: Smartglass is more than just a remote for the 360. You can use it as that, but also use it to view friends and messages.

Yes, I have only one account and that's the one I used to log in the Xbox App and purchase the PC game pass...

I would like to add that everything works fine, I started playing Recore and logged into xboxlive without issue... It's that
[Mod Removed - Inappropriate] notification that is still popping up that's making me worried...

Same issue, not fixed. Seemed to start with last update. Cortana (when Kinect is on) says she recorded the game clip, but in the notifications sidebar, after every clip, it says Gameclip failed to upload to Xboxlive. They are not in the app on the PC,
nowhere to be found. This has occurred with BF4 and Mirror's Edge Catalyst, started around July 25.

Is it a bug with latest preview update, or what?
