    Recently I have tried to download a game, however when I deleted the game some Xbox app or feature kept creating the same empty folder you see in the photo. I have reinstalled the Xbox apps and even changed the default path for downloads but it keeps annoying me. It is created every time I start my computer.

    Xbox software is on C, but the folder keeps appearing on D. There is a 'XboxGames' folder on both harddrives.

    How can I delete this folder for good?

    I believe since you already installed games on the D: drive, the Xbox app will always recreate this folder since you might install games on this drive in the future.

    The only option you could try to do is to change the default folder (not drive) inside the Xbox app to something else (like Games, for example). But I still think the Xbox app will still recreate the folder (Games, in our example here) on your D: drive.

    Have you changed both on the Xbox app and on the Windows settings the default installation drive for games and apps?

    Also, would you please double check that no games are still installed on the D: drive?

    Set the Installation folder to C:\XboxGames folder.

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

    I can see that you encountered an issue with installing Forza Horizon 5 on your Windows PC.

    The game is supposed to be installed only in the WindowsApps folder, but sometimes it creates a duplicate folder in the XboxGames folder as well.

    This does not affect the gameplay or performance of the game, but it does take up extra space on your hard drive. You can safely delete the XboxGames folder if you want to free up some space. Please do not delete the WindowsApps folder as this will uninstall the game completely. To delete the XboxGames folder, you will need to follow these steps:



    1. Open File Explorer and go to C:\Program Files

    2. Right-click on the XboxGames folder and select Properties

    3. Go to the Security tab and click on Advanced

    4. Click on Change next to Owner and enter your username

    5. Check the box that says Replace owner on subcontainers and objects and click OK

    6. Click on Apply and OK to close the Properties window

    7. Right-click on the XboxGames folder again and select Delete



    This should remove the duplicate folder and free up some space on your hard drive.
