xbox360s: please help! won't start, switches off after 7-8 seconds (middle light flashing ...

Hey guys.

I have searched extensively on this problem and while I've found many people with similar problems I haven't been able to find the exact same symptoms/scenario or a fix.

I have an Xbox 360 Slim which I got around 2 years ago. I've never had any problems with it (freezing, overheating, video glitches etc). I had used it the night before last no problems and shut it down as per usual.

I went to fire it up last night and it powers on (fans can be heard etc) but then the green light on the power button turns immediately to a red flashing light which flashes around 12 times and lasts for 7-8 seconds then the console turns itself off.

Info/troubleshooting so far:

- The power brick has a solid orange light on it, which turns to green for the time the console is running, then goes back to a solid orange. No red lights.

- Nothing appears on the TV (no error messages).

- I've tried unplugging everything and back in again, no go.

- Tried plugging it into a power socket in another part of the house, no go.

- Tried leaving it all unplugged overnight and trying again, no go.

- Tried two different HDMI cables, still no go.

- The console does not have a hard drive installed so it's not the loose/unseated-HDD issue.

- It was in a well ventilated area so I doubt it overheated (I think the Slim has inbuilt protection for this anyway?). As I mentioned above it was running perfectly fine and I shut it down (it didn't freeze or anything) and I was booting it up cold when
I first encountered the problem.

I'll try and borrow a friend's power adapter tonight and try it out. In the meantime any suggestions/help very much appreciated.

Starting Problem

Hi. When switches on starts with red light and switches off after some seconds. How can i fix this?

Also its not 4 red lights, Its one red light in the middle of the power on button. (Looks like an eye) It starts green then turns red and shuts off by it self with in seconds of hitting the start button too .

 

Quick update. Borrowed another power brick from a mate. Same problem

Definitely a problem with the console. Anything more I can do before getting it repaired?

I don't know if you have seen this article yet,
support.xbox.com/.../power-button-blinks-red But at the bottom it says that if your Xbox is still doing this even if it is in a cool area it does need to be sent in for repair unfortunately. =(

If it's out of warranty it costs $79 plus tax and shipping if you do it on the internet and $99 plus tax and shipping if you call in.

Make sure to only send in the console.
