    Hi. I'm at a loss. We have a current Xbox live subscription, but suddenly cannot get Xbox360 to connect to our home network. Our home network is working just fine and other devices connect to it. Xbox does see the network in the list, but will not connect
    to it.

    I've tried everything it suggests including unpluging my router for 5 minutes, clearing system cache, manually entering an IP address, etc etc.

    And here's something I find humorous.. one Xbox suggestion was to delete my profile and re-download it. Well, I used another profile that I didn't care about as a test delete profile. I deleted it, then when I went to re-download, it went to a screen that
    tries to connect to the network.. which is my main issue. GOOD THING I didn't delete my main account!

    Also, another suggestion out there is to reset the Xbox to factory settings. I don't think I want to lose everything just yet.

    Could it be this "wand" that connects to the Xbox that finds the signal? I doubt it highly as the light is on green like it has found the network.

    ANY help would be great.

    Hi KingKaty7,

    sorry to hear but the Suggestion to delete your account should help to clean the Cache and refresh the userer data and sometimes it help to resolve different isues (same at the "reset to factory default")

    I am having the exact same problem. It was disconnecting me sometimes playing Destiny but on the day of the outage, last Friday, it kicked me out and the same error happened to me. Not connecting and failing the test. Wifi works fine, all gadgets in the
    house and my xbox one get the wifi, except the 360. I tried everything the website and many other tutorials ask, nothing helped: cleaning cache, manually setting the network or reseting factory settings for the internet. I reseted my xfinity router by the
    website and unplugged physically. Lowered to nothing the firewall, and nothing. My router even recognize the 360 and its IP and MAC address.

    Next step:

    Tomorrow I will have the last resort. I will put an external hard drive on the 360, will go to settings and transfer all my data as a backup. (Press Y in your storage/ hard drive from your 360 and chose transfer files). It will backup all my savings and
    acount profiles.

    Before formating my 360 hard drive (Hard Reset), I will look into it for any corrupted file. If I find one, I delete, if I don’t, I will delete my profile, clean the cache 3 times and restart my router, subsequently, the video game too. If it does not connect
    to my network when it restarts, I will proceed with the hard reset, then test if it will reconnect.

    Next step: if it works, you put back your files from the hard drive. The console will see and help you.

    If it does not work though, you need to send or bring it to a microsoft store/ place.

    I tell you guys how it goes.

    I had the same issue and I finally. solved.

    Your case is like mine. Extreme but easy to solve after all I went through with this console.

    You basically have two options:

    1 - Put an ethernet cable coming from your router straight to your 360. Will work right at the time.

    2- If you still want the wireless conection, you must get a new router. For some reason, after a while, a 360 can have connection issues with a router and never connect again without a cable or being connected into a new device.

    My 360, was changed the wireless board, tested in other routers and worked fine. When brought to my router again, it would still not connect and give wrong IP address no matter what. I solved with those steps above.

    Thanks for reaching out to us in the forums for this issue with your Xbox 360. As our Ambassador has recommended, you may wish to clear out the system cache and power cycle the console, then try again.

    To clear the system cache

    1. Press the Guidebutton on your controller, go to
      Settings, and select System Settings.
    2. Select Storage.
    3. Highlight but don’t select a storage device, and then press
      Y on your controller for Device Options.
      NoteIt doesn't matter which storage device you choose. This clears the cache for all storage devices.
    4. On the Device Optionsscreen, select
      Clear System Cache.
    5. When prompted to confirm storage device maintenance, select
      Yes.

    Note: When you’ve successfully cleared the system cache, you’ll return to the
    Storage Devices screen. You can then press the
    Guide button on the controller and return to Xbox Home.


    Additionally, I further suggest trying out a wired connection to see if you get a different or same result. This can help eliminate the wifi dongle attachment (or not!) as the issue as well. You can also use the support article entitled

    Troubleshoot your Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter
    to more directly troubleshoot the dongle. If it does turn out to be the dongle at fault, then that would need to be replaced.

    Give this a try and let us know the results.
