Xbox360 has been corrupted!?

Ok so I need some help. Today I get on and start up my console and it asks me to update, when I started to download the update it stopped and told me there is an error and I need to check my connection. I did that and then re downloaded the update 4 more
times but it still wouldn't work. Then my console freezes and I get a message pop up on my screen saying theres some system problem and then theres loads of chinese text and I have a red light on my console. Now, I have had my Xbox360 console for 7 years and
never have I had any issues with it. I bought a new hard drive for my 360 as I needed more space for new games. It was a 250GB hard drive I bought brand new from Amazon. Ever since I plugged the *** thing into my xbox and transferred all my data over it has
somehow killed my console. My Xbox360 turns on but it keeps telling me to download this update which fails. Now everything on my hard drive, games, profiles, gamer pics, themes and all the downloads I bought have been corrupted and I can't delete anything.
I am so confused and really worried about whats happened so please could anyone help me?

Hey StrangeGoose! Well, if the download is corrupting every time, and you said you've re-downloaded it, let me just throw an obvious one out there first. Did you delete the file before redownloading it? If so, the next thing I'd check is your network
connection. Are you connecting wirelessly? If so, please try a direct connection to your modem with an Ethernet Cable. That will always rule out your network. Once using a hardwire connection, please delete the corrupted content, then go to the System
Items folder. Please select and delete the Marketplace System Data item in there (it will redownload, no worries and then go to your Dashboard, scroll to the right under the Settings Hub and select System. Then select Storage and press Y for Device Options
and select Clear System Cache. Once done, please restart your Xbox and try to download again. Please let us know if that works for you!

 

Help! Download has been corrupted!

Try deleting the corrupted data and then clear the system cache. You might even want to turn your console off, remove the hard drive, and reboot it without it before trying to download again. That's a good way to delete the data and reset the read connection.

 

Was the harddrive a genuine one? Might of been a fake and the latest update bricked it due to being unauthentic.

Microsoft don't like unauthorised accessories so I wouldn't be surprised.
