xbox360 family account settings preventing me from buying a game on my own system, how do I ...

I setup the XBox360 a few years ago for my sons and don't recall the need to setup / configure Family settings at the time.

One of them wants to now purchase Modern Warfare 2 on his account, but (of course) the family settings are preventing it.

I've also tried logging in with my account and I am myself prevented from buying this game. On my own system.

I would like to just factory reset the XBox360 and start fresh, but the pre-existing family settings are preventing me.

I guess I'm asking any of these questions:

* How can I access my family settings challenge questions?

* Can I force a factory reset on the 360 (and please don't tell me it's LT-RT-X-Y-LB-RB-X on the system info page *eyeroll*)

* Can I remove all family goofyness all together?

How do I remove myself from family?

So, I was part of a family gold pack last year, but I ended up not renewing it, and got a year subscription of my own, on my own different console. Yet when i go to change my settings, it still requires the Primary Family Member password rather than my own.
How do i set it to where it removes me from the family pack conditions and lets me manage my own account?

If you're having trouble with your Settings regarding the ability to complete purchases may be set to "Blocked". Take a look here to get those adjusted.

You can use the steps in that article to adjust your Xbox 360 settings as well.

I had already come across this support article, but it offers nothing more detailed then what's available in the actual user flow on the console.

I may have to actually try to reach an agent.
