    xbox360 console connected to internet but not xbox live - system update failed


    xbox360 got from friend and trying to set up for first time. Connects to internet, but when it tries to connect to xbox live it says there is a system update available and must be installed to connect to xbox live. Tries to update, then fails

    status code 417F 0000 0080 0300 8007 0087

    Please advise what to do

    Everything Brad mentioned above, and I went through the troubleshooting a few times. I'll try again tomorrow, I guess.
    Hi fixed it. Cleared out the hard drive of everything... profiles games, everything. Then cleared cache and worked

    troubleshooting update on 360    . Try each of the drop downs as they are all helpful.
