Xbox1 Store pricing VS Physical copy..

Hi all

What is the deal with the XB1 store and pricing, take the new Aliens title for example £45 on amazon, for a boxed copy with disc..

But on the Xbox1 store for the same edition is £59.99, this is for a download, come on Micro$oft why such a high price for a digital

copy and so low on retail. Surely this is madness..

Take it back to the store and get a replacement. Oh wait, it's a digital copy, you can't. Score another victory for a physical copy in the "Physical vs Digital" debate. I couldn't resist.

Cause people are lazy a still buy it at that price, I would happily buy off the Xbox store but intill the prices are reasonable I won't be bothering

 

Yeah as Pingu says people are quite happy to pay the over inflated prices so until people stop msoft will continue with this practice! You also have no resell value so that adds up to what your paying overall but if that's what people want to do then at
the end of the day that's their choice.

 

Are Microsoft in full control of the prices on the Store though??

Does the publisher not have a say in what the price should be??

 

Thanks for the replies thus far, this seems to be an issue for all, overall am pleased with the XBOX1, but not with the Games on the store, I would have thought that the overhead on a boxed copy is far greater than the digi download and both have to install
to the HDD..

Come on Micro$oft sort it out..!!!

 

MS dont want Game, Grainger games etc to close. If they offered the game at a lower price than these stores nobody will buy from, them and they will go out of business. Not bad when it comes to software btut when that shiny new console is due for release
you cant just download them.

I am glad MS do this as I think stores like Game etc provide a decent service and I much prefer disc versions.

 

I tend to order most of games online these days, purely because it is cheaper.

I used to love going into Game on release day to pick u a new release but their prices are usually much higher than what can be found online.

Saying that, my last two game purchases have been digital. Fifa 15 because of the EA Access discount and Forza Horizon 2 because of credit I had left over from buying Fifa 15 and the current deals on Xbox Store credit.

 

Like Boas said, if MS undercut the brick and mortar stores, they would suffer. Thats one of the reasons why games on the marketplace are at full RRP. Fair trading?

 

True, Fear the doc.. but at least price them at 48 quid and not 59.99

 

Or go to Tesco. £40 seems the norm these days.

 

To be honset I prefer Waitrose..
