xbox1 controller always shows mic plugged in

Just bought a new xbox 1 and for whatever reason I got another controller that always shows a mic is plugged in, same thing happened with my x360. Updated the controller and if I plug in a mic it shows and works but when I unplug the mic the icon goes away
for a second then reappears like I plugged the mic back in.I did testing in destiny to see the mic icon. Do I have a faulty controller and need to return it or is there a fix?

controller behaves funny with mic plugged in ...

If I try to start up my xbox1 with controller with the mic plugged in the controller light flashes but box does not fire up. Can still switch box on manuallty or with voice but when box switched on the controller light still flashes but will not recgonise
and nor can I enrol it.

If I at this point attach the plug and play lead the controller kicks in and behaves. Otherwise I have to remove the battery and the mic then start the controller without the mic plugged in. Any solutions/ explainations?

 

Mic wont work

So my brother dropped my controller not that high from the ground and my mic was connected to the controller and the controller is fine but the mic stopped working. I can plug in the mic to other controllers but the mic can plug in the controller, but won't
work. It shows like nothing is plugged in please help.

 

Remove the battery from the controller, while the battery is out hold on the power button of the controller for 1 minute while the battery is out and then plug the battery back in and turn on the controller, let me know if it worked

I am having this exact issue as well. Nat Type Open with all proper port forwarding. Tried getting new controller/headset. Resetting mac address, clearing persistent data, clearing and establishing my account xbox, testing with a different account (doesn't
work), updating the controller (didn't need to), reconnecting the controller. Nothing works. I'm honestly glad more people are experiencing this issue so hopefully people will know.

 

Also, fairly certain this is a console issue, not an accessories one...though it first seemed like that to me as well...

I have this issue also. I've had it twice before and it randomly sorted itself out after a few days. Still isn't working this time round.

 

Hey, has anyone returned their Xbox One yet?

This isn't normal and while it could be the controller, it really sounds like the console.

If you want to try a factory reset, before returning the console that is always an option as well.

 

I am probably going to return it. I tried the factory reset today. It did not work.
