Xbox you are losing your touch!

No one will dispute that the xbox 360 was better for online play than playstation, but here we are still having issues with xbox live connecting to its social servers, so people cant see their friends, or join parties. Then add on top of that the same free
games for the last 3 months. Xbox you are really losing your edge on gaming, PS4 is starting to look really enticing. Hopefully you dont blow up the Halo series any further, or you may lose a lot of dedicated xbox fans.

    :)

    error code 0x80a4001a

A quick search online shows the service is down and support are looking into it.

Do NOT touch your kids profiles, especially given that other users also cannot log in. How would you sign in?

Plus you may risk losing saved game progress!

Get them to do something else in tgr meantime.

Check the XBOX service status page for updates...

    Good luck...

Xbox you are losing your touch!

The vast majority of problems are caused by people owning crap routers with poor UPnP support.

This is especially a problem if you own both a 360 and an x1 as you get mapping conflicts which cause NAT problems.

People get routers given to them by their ISP's. These routers are often crap and have broken UPnP.

Because of this, they strict/moderate NATS or teredo errors then they blame their games console.

If you don't want any problem you should only buy routers that are confirmed to be able to handle multiple games consoles at the same time.

I had no issues with my 360 with my "crap router" and still had to reconfig everything when I switched over to One but I am still having issues. When you pay a lot of money for a console you expect it to work better than the previous generation and you should
be able to plug it in and go - not having to spend MORE $ on a headset adapter or an even better router (again!). So far I am also unimpressed with the Xbox One.

I had no issues with my 360 on my crap router either until I bought an x1.

At first I was blaming the xbox one saying it had poor UPnP support. Then I bought a PS4 and guess what?

I was having the same problems on that too. COD:Ghosts on x1 had moderate NAT.COD:Ghosts on PS4 had moderate NAT. Only after further investigating I realised that my router which was a BT Homehub 5 wasn't compatible with the demonware port mapping that activision
games used. It couldn't recognise the fact that the games were trying to open the ports needed and failed.

The fact is a lot of routers can't do UPnP properly. If 2 devices try to open the same port which in the case of the 360 and x1 it's UDP port 3074 one of them fails and gets a strict or moderate NAT.

A decent router will notice that one console already has port 3074 open so will open a different port for the other console leaving the NAT open. My ISP supplied router couldn't do this but the d-link router I own now has no problems at all and I have a
    consistently open NAT.

What D Link router are you using now? Thinking of upgrading to something more 'gaming' oriented. I've had issues arise with what sounds like the mapping stuff. If I switch between XBONE and 360 the NAT instantly goes moderate on EVERYTHING. & Not every game
has the ability to tell you NAT status, other than it dropping connection so noticing the issue isn't always straight away.

    Thanks for the info.

    I use a D-link DIR-868L.

It's a router only so it need to be connected to a modem but it's the best router I've ever used.

I've suffered for years with NAT problems due to owning multiple games consoles but since buying this I have a consistently open NAT. Apart from setting the router up to work on my connection I have not had to use static IP's or anything. The Xboxes have
had open NATS straight out the box with no configuration needed.
