Xbox X People Can't Join Without Being Friends

Thank you for contacting the Xbox Support forums. Before attempting to assist, can you please confirm if this is an error that you are only receiving while playing Diablo 2 Resurrected? Are you receiving any error codes while you attempt to create a game/join unfriended players? Do you have this error on any other title on Xbox?

Thank you for your response and confirming that it tends to be an error with only Diablo 2 Resurrected. I will continue to look into the error and respond back to this thread if I'm able to find a solution. As of now, it sounds as though it may be caused because of an error within the game itself or a setting that's preventing you to play with anyone outside of your friends. For additional assistance, I would recommend contacting Diablo 2 Resurrected Support to see if this may be a common error with suggested solutions.

The only error I get is when I try to join someone's game or vice versa and it just stats unable to join game. I've only noticed this issue with d2r though, haven't tried it with any other games. But once I become friends with the person we're able to join each other's game.

Hi AzKxRider520....yes I have the option to press X and go to an online lobby....but I can't join game of my friends on the Xbox's menu.....(people part, friends, choose a friend and go to "join party or game")....and my friends are in a public session.....

Good timing, I think. After nearly 3 months of telling me I had bought him the wrong headset, my son has just discovered how to talk to friends on other platforms, though it sounds complicated and he says he can't do it without other Xbox players being
involved.

He says he needs to joins an Xbox live party, then join in a game of Fortnite with other people from other platforms, then leave the Xbox live party, if that makes sense?
