    Xbox X Latency issues


    Hi recently purchased Xbox X play Halo multiplayer experiencing high latency of 150ms.

    Router test: download 268 mbps, upload 23mbps, latency 7ms. when tested on Xbox downloads, 267mbps uploads 22mbps and latencies 150. Can anyone help, with so much lag impossible to compete.

    Hi, as I only play Halo can’t say. Have excellent internet service the problem seems to be from router to console. Speed test on router 270mbps download , 25mbps upload and 7 Ms . When tested on Xbox X in setting network speed test upload down similar, though latency 170ms !!!

    Have tried resetting router, resetting console, have hard wired connection which doesn’t seem to make much difference.

    My router is ASUS and has a gaming port to optimize efficiency. Have checked advance settings in console as directed all seems right Detailed network statistics:

    274.78mbps download.

    21.22mbps upload.

    Packet loss 19%.

    MTU 1480..

    Latency 174ms (Console reading )

    nothing seems to be helping.

    It makes almost impossible to be competitive. So frustrating. Any further suggestion would be appreciated

    1. Check your network connection: Make sure your Xbox is connected to your router via an Ethernet cable, and that your router is in a central location in your home. You can also try resetting your router to see if that helps.

    2. Check your NAT type: If your NAT type is set to strict, it can cause latency issues. You can check your NAT type in the network settings on your Xbox.

    • Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
    • Select Profile & system > Settings > General > Network settings.
    • Under Current Network Status, the NAT Type field displays your current NAT type.
    3. Check for updates: Make sure your Xbox and Halo game are both up to date with the latest software updates.

    To check game updates: My games & apps > Manage > Updates.

    To check known issues of the game:

    Hi Tomm, just to give you a little more information, my router, connection test download 270mbps upload 25mbps latency 7. Test on Xbox network through settings download around the same and upload the latency 170ms. Router is Ausus gaming router . Nat setting automatic. This was a a problem with my Xbox one thinking it was just the console. That’s why I upgraded to Xbox X only to find I have the same problem . Have read and performed what you have suggested unfortunately with marginal change in latency 149ms
