Xbox X extended Warranty for Scorpio bought in the UK

I see that the Xbox X pre-orders were opened up again today and you can purchase an additional 3 year warranty if you use the microsoft store for the purchase.

I have used the microsoft store before and it has been good with no issues. The reason I did not use it to purchase by Scorpio was the delay to open the UK store up at the end of Gamecon stream.

The disappointing thing is I set to pre-order a scorpio earlier in the year with Microsoft store and watched GAMEcon stream awaiting the pre-orders to open. The amazon store was open THREE hours before the Microsoft store despite registering interest.

Order was placed with amazon by 20:33 on 20/08.

I did not get a email from the microsoft store until 3 hours later at 23:41.

If Microsoft store had been open earlier I would of purchased from there. Was a 3 year additional warranty available for all your customers who spent the time and effort making the scorpio the fastest selling console in the world ?

What I am disappointed about is I rang Microsoft UK today and asked if they would let me purchase a 3 year warranty for my Scorpio from Amazon when it arrives. The answer was NO as I had not bought it from the Microsoft store. I think for all the people
who helped and supported buying scorpio with all the press and delays should be able to purchase a warranty.

I also find your extended warranty page confusing where you CAN buy warranty after purchase. Is that just for items bought from the store ? Get Microsoft Complete for Xbox One with Accidental Damage Coverage.
I cannot believe you only cover the US, Canada and Australia. Europe is not covered ?

You can add Microsoft Complete when you buy an Xbox from the Microsoft Store. Or, get it up to 45 days after purchase. Just bring your Xbox console to a Microsoft Store* or contact
customer support.

I think this is very poor, if the answer is there are no Microsoft stores in the UK, then I'll pop it down to your head office in Reading !

Could Microsoft consider selling the warranty on the scorpio pre-orders for people that have supported them.

Also perhaps you could consider as opening your store before your competitors to, especially as you make and own the product !

Xbox one complete bought in store not reflected online

Has anyone else bought the extended warranty for Xbox one in store? I bought the extended warranty for Xbox and kinect in store (Microsoft store). After registering the console on the Xbox myservices website, it does not recognize the extended warranty,
showing that the warranty expires after one year (standard manufacturers).

Is this normal thal that the website does not reflect the extended warranty or did the store not activate it properly (associate it to my xbox one)?

The factory warranty starts from the date you register the system and I believe you have 10 days to do so. That being said if you’d rather not deal with sending it in for repair somewhere down the line (for free within the warranty window) I would suggest
getting a non-Scorpio X that may be from a more recent assembly line and getting an extended warranty from the place of purchase.

 

You should be able to get extended warranties from other sources. Authorized retailers in New Zealand, Australia, etc, may offer extended warranties at an additional cost. However I found the standard 12 month warranty for new consoles completely fine. I
have a day one edition Xbox One console from November 2013 which is still working. I also have an Xbox 360 slim 250GB console from late 2010 which is still working too. Lucky me.

Microsoft has high standards in how they manufacturer consoles. Australia and New Zealand has strict legislation which cannot be overturned by any contract, too which defines how reliable consumer products need to be.

I wouldn't really worry about the extended warranty. Your new console in most cases, should definitely last longer than 1 or even 2 years. Just don't expect it to last 100 years.

Xbox One/S: Faulty disc drives,fautly network cards,Faulty HDMI ports at launch.

Xbox One X: we'll see.

Extended warranties are usually down to the seller to provide & organise.

To be honest if you are in the U.K. then GAME would be a better bet,they offer a extended warranty at the same price as Microsoft & most of the time they will swap your console there & then in store if it develops a fault.
