    Xbox x clicking noise


    Hi, i recently bought an xbox x and discovered a ticking sound which sounds like a hdd click, the noise is qiuet and a sort of sporadic clock tick every few seconds or in twos or 3’s, it does not make the noise at all when playing games or when under load
    and only seems to be present occasionally on dasboard and constantly when using netflix or an app, i took my xbox x back to store yesterday and they exchanged it but the new one makes the exact sound! Not sure if its normal hdd sounds for the x or not as my
    last xbox of 3 years was an standard and didnt make the sound , thanks

    I can't hear anything coming from my Xbox One, but then again that's why I wear hearing aids. =P

    I think everyone's does that. At least I know mine does and I've heard others on here mention it also so I would say it's normal, even though I'm not sure what is making the noise.

    Hi there,

    since you exchanged it at the store and the new console is making the same sound, I would assume that the sound is standard.

    I have heard the HDD making sounds on my console too, hard to say they are the same, but for now I myself wouldn't worry about it. Especially since it has happened on two consoles for you now.

    Any mechanical noise apart from the fan being used and the HDD spinning up and down are normal, a ticking noise I have not heard of. Do they have a XBOX1X on display to see if it happens on that unit?

    Any mechanical noise apart from the fan being used and the HDD spinning up and down are normal, a ticking noise I have not heard of. Do they have a XBOX1X on display to see if it happens on that unit?

    Mine doesn't do that.

    And it certainly is NOT normal. When it's off, it's off. It shouldn't be making any noises, at all.

    Is this sound coming directly from the xbox itslef or are you hearing these sounds over f.e. your speakers? If its coming directly from the device it may be a faulty bevoming harddrive so you better phone the support team on this to have your console serviced.
