Xbox won't turn on

My Xbox won't turn on. When I press the power button it flashes green for an instant then imediatly turns off. The light on the ac adapter was red. I called xbox support and they said it was an ac adapter problem. I replaced it with a brand new one through
them for $32 and it turned red again instantly when I turned it on. What's happening here?

My power supply was orange and when I hit the power button it would make a noise I looked online for fixes found it could be a USB port could have a shorted wire. Not so with mine it was the TV, switched the plug to another HDMI port and it worked.

I read Mister Fitzer's post about if your console won't turn on. Well I'm pretty sure my Xbox is completely done since the power supply bar has the orange light on but my 360 won't turn on, so I'm just wondering if anyone knows anything that could fix this
without me having to send it my console.



Basically, for the past 2 days my Xbox power supply has been getting that red light, but it was usually fixed by just switching my power supplies (I have two). Though today I moved my console to a different room in my house, I played it, had no problems,
played for around 4 hours, then shut it off for around 5 hours. I went to turn on the console again, when it won't turn on. The power supply light is orange, and whenever I switched power supply cords, I just had the same problem. I plugged it into a different
outlet, same result.



Anyone know a way to fix it without sending it in? It's not even under warranty and I don't wanna wait the 30 days for them to fix it.



Or should I just get a new console? I wanna just get one of those $200 Xboxs, but of course Microsoft makes the HDD built in for *** whatever stupid reason.

 

Well, the odds of you having two consecutive bad ac adapters are pretty low, but it could be that the area the adapter is in is overheating it. Try moving the adapter to a cooler spot in the room or to a different outlet.

 

I've tried several different spots and outlets in my home and it is a Xbox 360 slim if that helps

Are you going through a power strip or a surge protector? If you are, I would plug it directly into the wall because supposedly the power supply can overload if you go through one.

Keep in mind, there have been defects reported with the Xbox 360 Slim power supplies. So if you've tried everything and there's still that red light that refuses to work with you, then the power supply may be dead and you may need another replacement.

 

I originally went through a surge protector, but my new ac adapter hasn't been connected to one and I did replace it and it isn't working

 

Is the power supply the ac adapter?

 

Yes, I was referring to the power brick, which is essentially part of the ac adapter. It's a two part tool as you can see they can be disconnected, and if one doesn't work or is bad, then the whole thing
doesn't allow power to travel. I feel at this point that you may need another replacement power brick for your Xbox 360.

 

I tested both my new one and old one on a different Xbox and they work so its not the ac adapter

 

you may have to send in your xbox for repair. also it is recommended to use a surge protector with your xbox. cause if it is storming out chance are that if your system is not plugged in to a surge protector. then when a power surge happens your xbox will
get damaged

 

It could be the connector piece in your console that the power supply plugs into. If both outlets you tried work fine and you believe the new power
supply is fine, then the only thing left is the console. If you don't want to send the console in for testing and possibly repair, find a power supply that has been used and works, and see if it works with your console. If it does, then it was the power supplies
that were your problem. If it doesn't, then it's your console that's the problem.
