Xbox won’t start up - please help

Following the recent Xbox update, my son has not been able to see anything in his tv screen. The Xbox One (new in Feb 2020) turns on and the cable from the Xbox to the tv is in goid order but nothing appears on the screen.

i have tried everything i can from reading various posts but nothing works. I have simply got a white box that switches on and does nothing else! It doesn’t even sound as though it is booting up.

Any suggestions please?

Hi, thanks for getting back to me.

I have just tried the cable into the tv on a separate device. The tv recognises the cable in all HDMI ports (2-4). When i plug the cable back into the Xbox the tv shows nothing so therefore it apoears to be something within the Xbox that wont recognise the
cable.

Hope i’m making sense!

Thanks for the prompt reply but sadly this didn’t work. The system isnt recognising the HDMI cable which i know is working correctly as i have tried it on other systems such as my DVD player.

I’m really not good with these sort of things and nit sure what to try next.

Got a few questions so we can hope to identify where the issue is.

Does the TV act as if it's getting a signal, it just doesn't show anything, or does it remain unchanged when you power on the Xbox as no signal?

First thing to check is the HDMI source on the TV, cycle through and see if it's on a different input. Then, if available, try plugging the Xbox into a different port and see if it displays on a different HDMI input on the TV. If you have a different HDMI
cable, that might be worth trying as well. After, again if available, I would recommend trying to hook it up to a different display to see if it displays on there.

Those steps can help us identify if it's the console, the TV, the cable, or something else along those lines.

Hi, i think that i may be hetting somewhere. Yes, it’s an Xbox One S and it is showing a white light on the start button.

After doing what you told me in the 1st post I actually got something on the screen!! The console has linked into the controller (which hasnt happened for a couple of weeks) so i have managed to press the troubleshoot icon then Restart.

I can see that console has now recognised the HDMI lead but i now have a completly black screen.

Do I continue to leave things as they are and hope it eventually fixes or reboot?
