    Xbox won’t start after factory reset.


    My original xbox one would only give me a black screen when I turned it on and I was eventually able to reset it to factory defaults removing everything. However, once I do that it just says preparing console before returning to the troubleshooter page. I have factory reset it multiple times and it always returns to the troubleshooter page with error code E102.

    Definitely return ASAP if you can. 99% of modded consoles it is hardwired into the system itself and a typical factory reset won’t clear it. I mean, after all, you probably got the system pretty much factory reset when it arrived so doing it again won’t

    Since you have done a factory reset, the next step that I can recommend here is to do the offline system update method. Please follow the steps from this link, https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help/hardware-ne....

    If the offline system update doesn't work, please make sure that all external hard drives are disconnected then try turning on your console to see if that sorts out the issue.

    The others already recommended the error troubleshooter at http://support.xbox.com/xbox-one/console/system-updates-solution

    If your issue can't be resolved by that troubleshooter, you're in luck that your console is "only" 6 months old, which means it's still within the one year warranty.

    You can go to
    https://devicesupport.microsoft.com     and sign in with your Microsoft Account that you use on that console.

    If the console doesn't show up, you need to register it with the serial number. After it's been registered, simply start the warranty repair/replacement and you get your console repaired/replaced for free during the warranty.
