Xbox won’t play game sound

my xbox one won’t play game sound. And by that I mean it will play system audio, like pressing the home button, but won’t play sounds from games. How do I fix this

Hi,I need some help as my mic won’t let me play game sound through it on Xbox has anyone god solutions

 

Xbox controller won’t play sound

So I just bought a new Xbox one controller and the sound doesn’t work on my headset. I go to the devices section of the settings menu and i cant select the volume option for the controller. Anyway to fix this or do i have to buy a new controller?

I spent a very long time with support but they finally fixed the issue for me. I don't know if you still need help to fix it, but if you do here it is.

Go to SETTINGS->TV & ONE GUIDE->AUDIO & VIDEO. The far right tab is AUDIO. Set that to SURROUND SOUND. It will make you restart your console, but for me that fixed my problem of only getting dashboard audio but no game audio. Here is the exact instructions

I've encountered this 3 times in the last 2 months. 3 games with 3 different developers. Never happened before. A hard reset on the console fixed it but I expect it to occur again.

 

Go to settings and change the audio mode it will ask you to restart... once restarted the console should fix that problem!!
